What's your go-to IPA?

To be honest, I'm not a massive fan of IPAs (more of a stout and porter guy myself). I don't hate them (don't really hate any beer style as long as it's made well), but they are one of the most hit or miss beer styles for me. But I do enjoy the vast majority of the IPAs that Collective Arts put out.

I've noticed the aroma of a fresh truckload of pallets in a few barrel aged beers.

I have rated more IPA's than any other style on BA. As great as it is, IPA is not even my favorite style, thanks Belgium. I think this speaks to the proliferation, popularity and availability of the IPA style. If I could make a mix-a-sixer of my favorite IPA's it would have to include the following; Pseudo Sue from Toppling Goliath, Furious IPA from Surly, Jai Alai IPA from Cigar City, Sculpin from Ballast Point Brewing, Fresh Squeezed from Deschutes Brewery and a lesser known beer called Saga from Summit Brewing Company. Cheers!

I’m 443 posts behind and will not read through. Apologies.
    Pliny the Elder.
My go-to daily drinker is a lager, but Pliny is usually available locally on shelves and probably the IPA I most often buy.

I rediscovered Fantasy Factory from Karben 4. I forgot how good that beer is. Otherwise, I’ll grab Anti hero. I’m personally done with hazy IPA’s. About a year ago, I got sick of them & milkshakes. As a Chicagoan, I wish Alarmist would bring back, Entrenched. That was my absolute favorite.

Pipeworks Ninja vs Unicorn is a staple for me. I’d probably drink more Three Floyds Lazersnake if I could find it reasonably fresh.

If you ever find yourself in Seattle, be sure to try Georgetown Bodhizafa and Lucille. Both super-solid and great price-quality (10 -11 a sixer). I always find myself always going back to them.

I was there over Christmas and ran into a BJCP judge at one of those big ol' beverage warehouses. He said that Freemont Lush (also 10 -11 range) is the best in town and Lucille 2nd, but I politely disagree.

Hmmm... I'd have to say my 'go-to' IPA is Stomping Ground's Hop Stomper. I can get 4-packs from the bottlo within walking distance of my house.

I find it funny and informative, and I guarantee I’ll use the wrong version many time again in my posts, but 100% of the time people will know what I’m trying to say.

I have two go to beers - Cambridge Brewing Company Flower Child IPA - probably one of the best and most under appreciated beers here. It's always fresh, and a beautifully balanced brew with a lovely floral note and ample hoppiness.

The second would be Fiddlehead Second Fiddle - I can get that beer beer fresh and I really like that it's not what I would call a juicy beer. These two tend to be my go to beers.

Heavy Seas Loose Cannon. Any of the HS IPAs are good but Loose Cannon is a good all around with a nice hops balance. Lagunitas and Sierra Nevada are always classic but HS is local and fresh with a refreshing hops snap.

Sierra Nevada doesn't describe SN Pale Ale as an IPA, and ten IPAs are listed on their site. It isn't listed as an IPA on the BA site. IPA now is a "Big Tent" descriptor, really a marketing tool. I'd call SNPA a more assertive pale ale. I enjoy mellower pale ales and ESBs when I can find them, as well as SNPA.

Locally, Superpower from Comrade. It's draft/crowler only, but Comrade is pretty close to where I live. For packaged IPA's, Breakside IPA and Ska's Modus Hopperandi. If I'm craving something on the fruity/hazy side of the spectrum, Epic's rotating hazy series fits the bill.

Sierra Nevada’s Celebration! Not year round but it’s worth the wait every year! Great story on how they source their hops! If you are in Central MN stop by Bad Habit Brewing in St.Joseph. Small batch specialists. They make all kinds of tasty IPA’s. My favorite Habitual IPA! It keeps me coming back again and again and again! :+1:

My favorite IPA, in fact my favorite beer, is Sierra Nevada Celebration - one of the best things about Christmas. Year round I go for Firestone Walker Union Jack and Lagunitas Little Sumpin Sumpin. Also in this area I love Sixpoint Bengali (Resin is too high alcohol for me) and I really really love SingleCut Softly Spoken Magic Spells. All the last four are easily available all year round here but the SingleCut is always very expensive. Too bad, it's my favorite right behind Celebration.
