What's your go-to IPA?

New England Brewing Sea Hag. It is reasonably priced, readily available and consistently delicious. I'm also supporting one of my local breweries.

 

Logboat Snapper. Runs around $9 or less for a 6 pack. It's local. It's easy to find fresh. And it's the beer in my avatar.

 

Right now, Frost beer works PLUSH is pushing all the right buttons for me!

Have either of you guys tried anything from Moonraker (Auburn, CA)? The two I've tried were outstanding.

Head Full of Dynamite - Fremont Brewing.So far every one in the series has been good. The 16 oz can is a perfect size and the price is good. I lived right up the hill from their brewery and riding past that place (I get around by bike) - there are hops there.

 

The perfect IPA in all facets. Best deal out there. Can’t believe I used to waste money on $15+ 4-packs of lesser tasting and typically less fresh IPAs

 

Forgot to mention my other go to, Bodhizafa, which might be more widespread than it's stablemate, Manny's, at this point, which is not a bad thing.

 

Either Torpedo for a west coast hop bomb or anything from Sapwood Cellars for all other IPAs.

 

OK, I’ve been in the Tampa area the past couple of weeks now and I’ve had a lot of fresh Jai Alai. I totally get it.

 

Wow, I've had almost the opposite experience. Give me Wondrous any day.

 

Single? Resurgence Citmo from Buffalo, NY.

Double? Young Lion Brewery's Double IPA from Canandagua, NY.

 

I'm gonna say Kane Head High, IA Wrench, or Tonewood Fuego. I can always find them fresh and in the cold case, and I usually grab whichever is freshest. I stay away from the shelves full of beers that are collecting dust.

 

"Go to" means local (easy to find and fresh) and always tasty ...... For me, that has to be MadTree's Psychopathy. It also happens to be one of Cincinnati's original craft IPAs. Solid. $9.99 for a sixer.

 

Has been Two Hearted for literally over a decade now. Most consistent, flavorful year round beer in my area. The 2 years that Larry and Reyes bickered sucked, had to create a customer base in southern Maryland so I had a reason to go there in order to feed my habit

 

I have 4 or 5. I live in Illinois. I have a few locally, like Half Acre’s Bodem and Pipeworks Lizard King. There are a few big breweries distributed regionally / nationally that i look out for. Fresh Firestone Walker IPA always has a place in my fridge. (The new year round ipa Hopnosis is amazing) I LOVE Odell IPA. Cigar City Jai Alia never fails. Fresh Alesmith is an easy winner. If Topplimg Goliath ever gets back to traditional ipa, they’ll make the list. Pompeii used to be a all time favorite of mine before TG abandoned clear beer.

 

Usually go with Fiddlehead ipa or Long Trail VT IPA….. both solid and both available in 12 packs

 

To me, go-to means the one I want to have in my fridge all the time -- that won't disappoint. Local and easy to find are certainly pluses -- but those aren't necessarily always go-tos.

 

It's become this one and continue to appreciate whoever and whatever entity cut the deal for this shah to be sent to this area of PA in a fresh state of canning...

 

A lot of folks mentioned SNPA, but that feels too much like a typical pale ale to be included for me. Maybe I’ve fried my taste buds since I was young but it’s not all that hoppy or bitter.

I thought I didn’t like IPAs for the longest time but now I enjoy them a lot more, and I do enjoy a good NEIPA, provided it doesn’t lean too heavily into certain areas… anyone who drinks a lot of NEIPA will know what I mean.

for now my go to, as in the first IPA beer I’ve gone back to purchase more than once, is Zodiak Omnipollo. Really good stuff. Still looking for a straight up classic IPA for my go-to. I still have to try other classic examples like Lagunitas, but there is so much craft beer and IPA styles I have to try as well, so we’ll see!

 

While normally I go with something ultra local such as Silver Falls Breweries Oregon Sunshine, I am picking up a keg of Von Ebert’s Sector 7 soon. Both are amazingly well balance, hoppy, and easy drinking.

Jai Alia, but depending on the canning date, I may switch over to Voodoo Ranger.

For a double IPA, Edgar IPA from Bullfrog Brewing (Williamsport PA). As an added bonus, the label on the can is iridescent, really beautiful.

My go to would probably have to be Head Hunter or anything Sierra Nevada. SNPA, Hazy Little Thing, Torpedo, and most of their seasonal options. Celebration Ale is one of my favorite beers! I look forward to it each and every year. Follow the local forum and check the beer finder. When it drops I go out and buy a case. I’m sure a lot of other people do as well.

Madewest Hazy/Pale, Beachwood Amalgamator, Societe The Pupil, Rotating Pizza Port, El Segundo Mayberry.

 

BBCo Uncanny Valley or Orbital Elevator. Marlow Eager to share as far as a pale ale goes.

 

Bear Republic Racer 5. Cheap, available everywhere in NorCal, consistent and delicious at the perfect ABV.

 

For me personally, a little high in ABV at 7.5%. Since you are a big fan (I like it too), I see a best buy date on the 12 pack of cans. How many months does this best buy date encompass?

#3 Headway (Counterweight)

All superb, all consistent, and all fairly priced.

 

I enjoy all day ipa as it satisfies ipa hop and can enjoy many at 4.7 % a true session beer from a great brewery founder’s more known for stouts

 

Red Racer and Boneshaker are 2 favorites always around the Ottawa area✌

 

My local shop just got some in after a 7+ year NEBCO hiatus in the area. Grabbed the last 6er. As good as I remember.
