2- Not quite sure what you mean by "Downtown San Francisco"... Financial District? Barbary Coast? SOMA? North Beach? Chinatown? Embarcadero? Union Square?

If you have a car, I recommend the drive up to RR. Take off around 10ish in the middle of the week to avoid traffic if at all possible. You'll miss happy hour, but avoid most of the traffic...going there at least

 

Why not just try to help? When you clicked on the post was your intention to help or just to ridicule and correct.

Go to the Urban Tavern in the Union Square Hilton, a short walk from your hotel. Almost always Pliny and Blind Pig on tap.

What you really want to do is walk over to City Beer in SOMA, where they have three Alpine beers on tap.

 

Why drink Pliny when you can drink Alpine at City Beer? Or are you just looking for that hype?

 

If you would've gone to City Beer yesterday you could've drank 3 Alpine beers and bought bottles of Elder
