Only do a re-cap with something that will be started one night and finished off the second night.

With a Bomber (22 oz) I take a little extra care in removing the crown and being sure the beer is cold from the fridge. After putting the crown back on the bottle goes back in the fridge until the next evening. Usually some reasonable carbonation left the 2nd night.

With a 750 ml size cork and cage I keep a pre trimmed cork in the drawer and after pouring use that shaped cork to re-seal the bottle. Goes in easily. Holds tight. Removes easily. Again, there is usually some reasonable carbonation left the next night.

However, if there's lots of sediment in the bottle it only gets opened if it will be finished off in one night with a single pour.

The OP was asking if any BAs cap their beers, not whether or not whether he should open one, or drink all of what he opens. He gets it, and is past it. The question remains.
Beer styles vary too much for a simple answer as to which beers can be capped, or suffer too much for capping to be worthwhile. Generally, low carbonation beers will suffer less, as the liquid has less volatility and therefore loses it slowly anyways, taking less flavor with it. However, brighter beers, like some of the drier IPAs out there can't stand re-capping.
I recommend you do some experimenting as there are a number of tools out there that are effective and relatively inexpensive.
Stay away from vacuum pump or nitrogen spray products though. They can be expensive and rarely work as advertised.

Food Network makes a wine and champagne saver. They're silver in color and come in a 2 pack. You just put it in the the bottle, like a cork, and twist the top of it until tight. Bottle sealed airtight.

I always wait until I have two people to share. For any IPA, APA and some stouts (non bourbon barrel), that's usually my wife. For any Belgian (style), Barleywine, Saison, or Farmhouse style it will need to be somebody else. So I would like a reliable way to recap them. Especially since I'm drinking it if she doesn't like it.

Self-professed alcoholic here. Open a bomber - drink the whole thing

I usually finish bombers quickly, but even inbetween glass refills I'll put the cap back on tightly, or wrap aluminum foil over the mouth of the bottle if it was corked.

Go on amazon. search for a beer capper. there's a red one on there for about 16 bucks. Best 16 dollars I ever spent.

I don't normally have an issue with finishing a bomber. Even if it's a big beer, it's only 22oz. I can finish that amount of beer in one sitting, regardless of style.

That said, I guess capping them would be a reasonable way to save a partial bomber.

Surprised there are this many people who don't finish 22oz of beer in one night.

I'm not an alcoholic - I'm a drunk. Alcoholics go to meetings.
For the topic, I have a few bottle stoppers I will use in most cases. I pour out one glass from a bomber, then stopper it and put it back in the fridge while I drink the first. I'll then pour the second glass. Occasionally I will leave it for the next day, and while it's not at optimal carbonation and depending on the beer, perhaps slightly oxidized, it's still plenty serviceable.

Before I open any bomber I must ask myself one question . . . Am I willing to commit to this ?

Do you put the bomber back in your purse after you re-cap it?

I just recapped a bomber for the first time since I started homebrewing. It was a Stone IRS, way too heavy to drink all in one sitting. I did notice a slight decrease in carbonation though.

Had a boys get together and when I was cleaning up I found a half drank bottle if enjoy by. I capped it with my home brew caps and capper. Drank it the next day. Had less carbonation but enough and was still tasty. If in doubt cap it and it will still be good the next day, just a little less carbonation but worth it.

One bomber, one setting, I have never recapped a bottle no matter the style. I usually drink bombers on the weekends.

Yeah, for 20 minutes. Then I go back to the fridge and pour the rest of that beast like a man.

Every time this comes up I think the same thing. It dosent mean your an Alcoholic if you can drink 22 ounces of an 11 percent beer. I may be totally off but I feel like these entire threads are dedicated to people who want to make people know they are well refined and would drink one ounce of Parabola if they had the ability and save the other 21 ounces for the month of July.
