At least it does where I live in VT. $9.99 (I think) for a bomber vs $4.99 for a bomber of Big Eye IPA.

Is this a misprint or is there something special about Sculpin that I may have missed? Don't get me wrong, it's a great IPA (and ditto for Big Eye) but I can't justify paying that much. The ABVs are also identical. If it were an imperial, I might consider.

Sculpin is something like 7.99 or 8.99 at the local bottle shop here too, and I will never buy it at that price, especially since those bombers tend to sit there for a while.

I'm tempted to buy a bottle anyway and re-visit it since at one point, I already reviewed it. Besides, you should see how much money Element brews go for. The most expensive is $14.99 and that's the beer with cacao nibs and coriander (lost on the name). Looks mighty tempting but I have x-mas presents to buy too. Heh.

Sculpin is delicious. I've had a fair number of IPAs and none of them have the same mango punch as Sculpin. It's at least worth trying if you can get it fresh. If you have a local shop that splits 6s, you should be able to try a 12oz for $3 or less...

$19.99 a six pack in PA at Giant Eagle. Great beer, but a ridiculous price. Maybe the canned offering will be cheaper!

I would rather have Union Jack anyway. Ten dollars for a sixer here in NJ.

Yup- Same reason a dog licks his balls- because he can.

God bless them of they can get away with it, but it's soooo overvalued at this point that I know I won't be making any repeat purchases.

I usually get 12oz singles for $2.50 a pop, give or take. When you break it down, it's actually priced alright considering the high quality.. for me, it's basically $5 for 24 ounces, which I can't complain about..

That's why I rarely get fresh Sculpin. No one buys it at such a high price, so it just sits there. And sits there. Six generations of dust collect on it; babies are born; grandparents pass; forests are are leveled for the new Wal-Mart; everyone owns a hoverboard... And there little Sculpin sits.

I struggle with that everytime I see Sculpin next a bunch other "good" but Sculpin takes the cake every time for me almost. Its by far my favorite IPA, right up there next to Pliny and Blind Pig. I rate the 3 more or less the same but it all comes down to what mood I'm in to decide which IPA to go with.

Definitely depends on where you live- Sculpin is not local to us, so it is usually more $ ($9 bomber, fwiw) and not as fresh as west coasters get it. If I were to visit California I'd definitely check it out again.

$9.99 for a bomber is reasonable compared to FFF bomber prices (for Dreadnaught, Arctic Panzer Wolf, & Apocolypse Cow) here in Indiana. We're looking at $12 or more for one of these bombers. I buck up and pay from time to time, but not nearly as often as I would if they were less than $10. Maybe FFF's goal is to discourage hoarding? Or they simply know Indiana beer geeks are getting used to these prices? FWIW, a $10 six pack of craft beer is a thing of the past here as well. Usually looking at $12-$20 for a sixer.

Unfortunately, a lot of us use on-premise retail prices to justify paying a high price for these brews at liquor stores, which just fuels brewers' ability to recommend higher and higher pricing...

I don't understand why people always complain about prices. 10 bucks for bomber is cheap!

In my area it's ~$11 for a bomber and ~$17 for a sixer, I really have no idea why anyone would ever buy a bomber. The price per ounce on the six pack is about equal to a lot of other quality IPAs in 4 packs (any Green Flash offering, Stone Ruination, Stone SSR, Founders Harvest) and cheaper per ounce when compared to just about any craft bomber. It's the #1 ranked American IPA on this site so I can't argue with them charging whatever they can get away with.
