I am 24 days sober and plan on staying completely sober for another 66 days.

Plus I haven't been to a bar in ages.

I'm going to have to wait. Just pick n go for a good while. My local beer store guy orders whatever I want that's not stocked.

People need to be aware that a lot of others think this is a hoax or overblown.
Let them get the virus and see how they feel afterwards.
I noticed that most of the ones that refuse to wear a mask are baby boomers (Vietnam era). There's a group of younger trump nuts that follow the false media doing it as well.

Talking with my pest control guy this week. He's out still working and has had to tell people to step away from my space.
My dad at the grocery store had a guy in line come up right next to him and start putting his groceries on conveyor belt. While he was still unloading his cart.

Seriously consider what and where you go. Regardless of what you think others will always do the opposite.
Also saw a guy go into a restaurant after chewing a hang nail off his hand. Opening the door with the same hand. Just something else to think about what you touch and how many times has it been touched by others.

I will continue to support my local taproom by picking up tasty brews and drinking them at home. With so many states reopening willy-nilly, with complete disregard to science, the virus is still ascending in many places and I will not set my arse on a stool near some InfoWars/Qanon nutjob who is gleefully endangering others while parroting(like some on this thread) the misinformation they are being fed about social distancing, hand washing, sanitizing, etc.

My wife is also immunocompromised. I will continue to drive to get six packs directly from breweries but it will be a while before I actually sit down for a beer--despite how much I find myself fantasizing about a greasy burger, a couple of drafts and baseball on big screen. Cannot take the risk.

I would go back as long as I felt safe. So a crowded taproom would not something I'd be interested in, but a place where I can sit by myself or with a friend and enjoy a beer with some distancing would be fine.

As soon as taprooms reopen, I will be going.

I'm in NY, where we've been locked down for two months and our governor has a very cautious plan for re-opening as well as widely available testing across the state and a robust tracing program being set up. If, in a month (which is the earliest any bars/breweries will be open based on current timelines) the state has deemed its safe enough to go to these places, I'll be doing so. Especially since so many of these places have plenty of outdoor seating and/or beer gardens.

And I'll happily wear a mask in doing so and observe any and all safety guidelines since I'm not a selfish piece of trash that thinks a document written by pewter wig-wearing men 255 years ago absolves me of personal responsibility.

If you think I'm talking about you with that last sentence -- I am!

Great question! Covid-19 is no joke. I can't drink through my mask so, I will 'George Thorogood' it and wait till the smoke clears and the curve actually goes down. Can't drink if your dead y'know?

    For the most part No.

I consider myself well informed. I work in the healthcare world. I dont watch the fear mongering media all day. To all the people who say ill wait for science and data to determine when it is safe, that time is now.

I get it if your 75+ or have underlying conditions by all means stay at home, but to healthy people it is totally fine to go outside and get back to your life.

This whole Stay at home and save lives campaign is offensive in my opinion. All staying home does is weaken your immune system, so when you finally do go outside you'll get sick real easy.

The I'm gonna stay inside until a vaccine is made is just such a wild statement to make. There is no guarantee that will work and you cant force people to take it if they choose not to.

People have had enough, they stayed home for 2 months, to continue to "shelter at home" is just ludicrous.

I for one will not allow Talking heads attempt to tell me how to live my life to help further their agenda.

Now John at the bar is a friend of mine
He gets me my drinks for free
And he's quick with a joke or to light up your smoke
But there's someplace that he'd rather be
He says, "Bill, I believe this is killing me"

Waiting on those antibody tests to let me know if I've had it yet or not. If so, I'll be more lax about going out in general, assuming it's not possible or unlikely that you can get it again within a single season. Failing that, I plan to stay mostly out of indoor public spaces until the vaccine comes around, even if that isn't until late '21/early '22.

If that sounds extreme, maybe it is, but I don't see the point of risking it. I miss going out to eat/drink, but weirdly not as much as I did at first. Seems better to be safe about it. I have been and will continue to get takeout from sit-down places and can/will still buy beer direct from my local breweries (while tipping as if I were consuming on premise).

Yeah, I'll probably eventually get out more to meet up with people here and there, but nowhere near as much as before. People don't seem to consider the second spike of infections that is all but inevitable in late summer/early fall. I get why they aren't thinking about that as much, but it's still front of mind for me.

I am at risk, so as much as not going to my local brewery is killing me, going could actually literally kill me. Thus, I will have to settle for takeout growlers until things get figured out. Better than nothing, though!

I am very much looking forward getting back to visiting my local taprooms, but don't plan to do it until universally acceptable to do so without a mask. I will have to admit that this whole quarantine craziness has made me be a lot more intentional about regularly restocking the beer fridge from my favorite local micro breweries. Even though I'm not sitting in the taproom I'm quite certain I'm spending more with them all now than I ever did in the past.

Remember when they took canaries into the coal mines to check for noxious fumes? If you are eager to rush into a pub or taproom as soon as it opens, then prepare to be that canary or guinea pig. Let us know after 2 weeks and a test how you are feeling.

Bill, what about a beer garden environment where it is nice and sunny and people are spread out and the beer is served in plastic cups?

And there is live music playing.

I will be waiting. Listening to the health experts who are not muzzled they state we need to be very cautious right now and take things slowly. Politicians are not concerned about us they just want money coming in and votes.
At home delivery and curbside works perfectly right now and I would rather wait a few months and have my health than rush out and get this crap.

I've been staying at home. My partner is a medical provider in an urgent care. Our thinking about staying at home is evolving. We need to be smart about stepping out into this new reality (and there likely is no going back to some former normal), and stepping back out is going to have to happen. We need to start debating, with generosity, when to step back out. My neighborhood taproom is one of the first places I'll go. https://www.drjohnm.org/2020/05/can-we-discuss-flatten-the-curve-in-covid19-my-eight-assertions/

I miss pubs, I miss sitting drinking in a bar, either by myself or with friends. Here in the UK it looks like July before bars open and then with restrictions - social distancing, cashless, no standing / sitting at the bar, either table service or ordering beer via an app. Larger establishments & those with beer gardens will have the advantage of space. Small, intimate bars & pubs will struggle. I’ll be back Day One though.

Assuming the symptoms I had from 3.23 to 3.28 were Covid, I most likely caught it at OH Pastrytown or the last time I was in the OH tasting room on 3.14. Being older myself and having an 89 yo mother, I will not go back quickly. I'm a front of the line OH guy and I miss those guys dearly, but I will start with gatherings of less than 10, maybe even 5. NYC will be the last to open anyway since we've been hammered.

I voted wait, though I will be going to opening day at my local spot with outdoor seating as a show of support. I've been trying to support area breweries how I can and I don't expect to be really hitting bars and breweries like before until the data shows the risk is nominal AND the technology allows me to be comfortable with the choice (i.e. reliable, available testing and/or vaccines).

For those of you who are cynical and see only political causes here - why on earth would you think politics is a one-sided game? If you perceive the opposition is capable of deception then it is foolish to think your own type are immune to also deceiving.

No way! Nothing has changed except for the infection rate slowing down. Even with social distancing and the lockdown, my county is seeing 100 new confirmed cases a day. My town alone is up to 285 cases and 85 deaths.

You guys are welcome to go out and take your chances to get a beer at a bar.

I am not going to risk getting myself or my family sick over something I can enjoy from the safety of my home. I feel for bar and restaurant owners, but I have to prioritize the health and safety of my family.

I plan on waiting for the foreseeable future. I wouldn't hardly get out of the house at all if it weren't for my being "essential" and needing to come into work.

The only brewery I go to where I live has been doing curbside service since all this happened, and I stop by there once or twice a week to grab cans. That's been good enough for me, and I kind of hope they keep that going once the state opens all the way up. I don't mind bullshitting at the bar, but I prefer to drink at home.
