Has anyone been here? What was the beer experience like? Looks like an interesting beer selection.
On another note, I dislike going to downtown Albany. I'll be in the Wolf Road area for a couple of days. Thanks!

I like it there. Its a sports bar but the have a pretty decent beer selection. I think the taps change a bit (they had nugget nectar when it was released this year but dont believe they do now) but they always have a few ommegangs and some other decent stuff. I go there for the NCAA tourney or football games once in awhile.

Thanks, man. Being in Albany, is there anywhere else you'd recommend?

It depends on what you are looking for and how far you feel like traveling. Albany pump station is a brew pub and a pretty nice resturant and there beer is decent. Browns brewery in troy is also a cool place and to me alittle more low key bar food type place. Mahars is on madison or western (maybe both one road basicly becomes the other right near there) its a beer bar and altho some people complain about it I like it there. The tap selection isnt a great as it could be if they didnt have issues with a distributor but they still have good beer, a few casks, and i ton of bottles.
Hope that helps. If u have more questions let me know.

Thanks.. I am staying on Wolf Road. I guess Wolf 111 is the best bet for beer. I don't wish to go downtown Central Ave. Thanks again...

Wolffs 111 tap list is decent. They had a few Ommegangs and Dogfish 60 when I was there. Can't comment on the food since the only time I was there it was too busy to get a table (UFC ppv was on). There is the Recovery Room Sports Grill on Wolf too. http://www.recoverysportsgrill.com/ . Never been myself, but the website leads you to believe they have a decent craft offering. If you don't want to venture too far downtown, Beffs on Everett Rd usually has a few craft taps. Had a DFH 90 on tap last time I was there. Food isn't too bad either. Hope that helps. Any other recommendations would send you downtown which you said you want to avoid. If you decide to venture outside of the Wolf Rd area let us know, there are some worthy places downtown.

I live about 10 minutes from here. Neither place is going to have a selection that will surprise you for a sports bar but they're not bad by means. Prepare for some of the coldest craft beer you've ever had, though. Or two, let the second one warm up.

Is the Wolf Rd location the former location of Olde Chicago???

Ive been to three different locations of Recovery and its not worth the stop if you are a decent craft selection. Id have to agree with Fujii and trust his opinion (reluctantly)

Someone remind me why there isnt an Albany NY tasting group again???

No clue, wondered that a few times myself. I'd have no problem hosting one, but I live in Saratoga with two guys who are slobs.

I tried to start up bottle shares several times but no one responded (and I come from Buffalo). Someone from the area needs to ball up and start something.

My problem (other than living near Buffalo) is that I am usually only in the area on monday and tuesday night.

I work very inconsistent hours. Let me know the next time you make it this way, we can try to meet up and try some beers.

I would absolutely participate in an Albany tasting group. I live in Syracuse, but the mother lives in Schenectady and the father lives in Troy, so I make the drive fairly regularly. I'd probably make it more often for good beer.

I would be up for Albany tasting group I just brought a few cases of Three Floyd's back from Indiana and have a few bottles of Founders better half among a lot of others. I travel to Philly at least twice a month which in my option has some of the best beer selection on the east coast. Always bring good beer home.

I say travel a liitle bit further to Troy and make your way over to The Ruck. Great beer selection, place has a lot of flavor.

That Fujii13 seems like a permanent fixture at the Ruck. When he walks into the place, does everyone yell, FUJ?
