From what I understand a lot of lobbying from the cab companies has kept MBTA shutting down before bars close.

The no Happy Hours in Massachusetts is my least favorite of our laws. Followed by the no beer in grocery stores (except 3 per chain or something like that). All in all our laws arent too bad though.

While not a restriction, I feel the 17% wholesale tax scares off more than the split. The combination really hurts.

Can I play? ONTARIO is about the same. Totally sucks.

We are all craft drinkers and therefore, likely hold ourselves to a higher "Respect Beer." I am very much not a big government kind of guy, in fact pretty close to Laissez-faire. However, I think it is egregious how many DUIs are allowed here in Wisconsin. This may not have been the point of this thread, but lets face it, the mistakes of the "bad apples" effect us all and perhaps many of these misplaced laws and controls may be because of the failure of correcting the true issue.

Agreed, and to make it even worse its much more expensive to purchase at the Pizza/Sandwich shops.

Think that is a city by city basis. In Milwaukee it is 9pm but in Sheboygan for example Im pretty sure it is midnight

Yeah, it's pretty restrictive all across the country, but I think Atlantic Canada has it the worst. Just for fun, check out www.nbliquor.ca sometime to see our "selection".

+1 This. Utah probably has to have the worst alcohol laws in the nation, too many to list here. My current state of PA, as bad as our liquor laws are, doesn't hold a candle to the suckiness of Utah.

On the bright side, there is great acceptance of local/craft beers here because with price regulation, there is little to no difference in cost. It sure makes you want to homebrew, though!

Ontario has so many crappy rules, and the way The Beer Store is set up is almost funny. But the weirdest law I have found is for brew pubs. For a brew pub to sell beer to go, they have to have a separately enclosed retail area, which I believe needs to have a separate entrance. Which means if you are a brewpub you can't just sell growlers over the bar, you have to have a little enclosed store in the corner somewhere with its own staff person and cash register, and tap lines/cooler for growlers and bottles.

Having vacationed at the National Parks in Utah over the last 20+ years, it no longer comes as a surprise. The laws are strange, but I keep going back.

The worst law in the northern areas of the State of Bavaria is that at least one item on a bar/restaurant menu has to be cheaper than beer. Usually this means a 0.2 l glass of mineral water for around $2.00, with a 0.5 l of beer at around $2.25.

I was about to say at least if you live in Utah there is always beer trading. Then I looked at Seekabrew.

Yeah no doubt the PA laws are weird, but it would be hard to call them the worst considering PA is one of still quite few states that allow third-party growler fills.
