Worst Beer Made By A Good Brewery?

I was actually thinking the exact same thing. That and Pilot 2 are the only "bad" beers out of the 9 beers I've had from them. They're one of my favorites.

 

I've heard Upland makes unbelievable lambics. Unfortunately, I haven't been lucky enough to try any. Based on that reputation I picked up a 6 pack of Dragonfly and I was not impressed at all. That it has to share shelf space and is priced exactly as much as Columbus IPA means I won't buy it ever again.

 

Tweasonale is by far one of the worst beers I have ever had.

 

Most recent one was Citra Dog from Flying Dog = huge disappointment

 

GL - EL is one of my all time favorites.

 

I thought about this for a few minutes, then IMMEDIATELY knew it when I came to it.

Green Flash Friendship Brew. It was bad. Real bad.

 

I suppose it's worth a try. I did enjoy the Midas Touch after all.

 

FW 805 is horrible in my opinion but sells like crazy around here because of the telephone prefix reference.

Three Floyds Tiberian Inquisitor

 

Wellington Brewery and their Silver Wheat Lager. Everything by them is good (although Trailhead is only passable) but this one beer, is just awful.

 

doom was great out of keg and with age on it. fresh not so much. i have a bolt cutter and never drank it.

 

I really liked Single Hopped Citra by Flying Dog. Are you thinking of a different beer named "Citra Dog?"

Eh they could test it or send it off to be tested (assuming they dont have their own lab). Its very much a QC issue.

Or just tighten up their process to keep it from happening in the first place. Its most likely not in the barrel aging process since none of their other BA beers are infected, so it almost has to be introduced with the coffee.

 

Love both Hop Devil and Hop Wallop, but I can't stand...... and I say this while actually spitting..... Scarlet Fire! I had 2 sips at the brewery while on a tour with my brew club and couldn't get the taste out of my mouth for hours and hours. It ruined every other beer I tried that day.

If asked to describe the taste, I'd say sit next to a camp fire, directly in the smoke for 9-12hrs and just sweat. After 9-12hrs, ring your sweaty, smokey shirt out into a glass and enjoy.

 

I can't believe that people are actually mentioning Magic Hat or Blue Moon as a good brewery. The worst beer that I have had from a good brewery is Great Lakes Glockenspiel or Sam Adams Cherry Wheat.

 

I'll have to keep this in mind if I'm ever looking for some solid meh beers...
