    My thoughts?

That the FindTheBest is completely ridiculous and has to be lying somewhere. Because I don't know how that is the final list if they used--as stated in the video on the article--reviews from RateBeer and BeerAdvocate as part of the data to compile the list.

Based on the beers, I would guess that the only criteria was volume sales, and even that seems strange, given the fact that I haven't even heard of some of those brands.

TL;DR - the entire article is worthless

EDIT: in the video, the CEO of FindTheBest used the phrase "The BeerAdvocate". Awesome. As in, "all the kids are on the BeerAdvocate these days"

As expected, a fascinating list of some truly innovative, tasty brews! And this rating system apparently takes BeerAdvocate ratings into account... uh, no?

I'm just happy that Michelob ULTRA Lime Cactus made the cut. Pretty legit list.

The best part of the article is the comments.

My personal favorite--the guy questioning the validity of the list by asking why Beck's and Heineken aren't on it.

Truth, but this puts it over the top.

It showed the most searched beers/breweries in the past 30 days, and I think Sierra Nevada was 15th or so, and was the first craft brewery, behind Budweiser, Bud Light, Corona, Heineken, Pabst Blue Ribbon, etc.

I have had Windhoek and while it was good it wasn't a "5" and isn't likely widely available outside of Southern Africa so I'm guessing the poll is trying to not be seen as Euro-Centric and included some odd beers or some good beers that aren't mainstream (Laurentina, Aguila). Diageo & Heineken are involved with Windhoek...I'm sure you'll find similar threads through the other beers on here. Makes it seem like you are voting for the "little guy" but they aren't some mom and pop brewery. These types of polls are so random they just have to be ignored.

To defend the list, have any of you guys had Michelob lime cactus? Someone pulled a 6pk out a while back at a share. We mixed the dregs of some Cantillon geueze with it then sat it near a heater for a few hours to let the bugs and nasties do their work. What emerged was magical. A sour unlike one I've ever had. Had we not cared for carbonation I might've recapped it and cellared it for a while. I'm shocked its not higher on the list.

Based on their admitted research methods (not to mention the "title" of their list), I wouldn't put any stock in what FTB recommends at all.

It's not Yahoo's rankings. It's from Also, if you sort by "smart rating" on, you'll see the regular cast of characters Rare, KBS, Huna, etc. This company essentially rated the best beer based on ratings and availability.
