Just wanted to give a heads up opening in North Point OCT 14th. From another thread a few months ago Yards get really great reviews, listed as an upscale ( meaning expensive?) beer bar 130 or so taps, and fairly exclusive, maybe only 35 or so in the country. Nice to see a nationally highly rated beer bar so close, it cements the triangle as a great beer area.

Just to clarify, I think that nc41 means North Hills not North Point.

    Yeah it's definitely North Hills.
They look to be more upscale but I peeked inside last weekend and there are quite a few TV's in there so maybe an upscale fancy sports bar kind of deal?
And they built it right next to a World of Beer.......

Its a sports bar that has about 50 or so taps and at least 100 bottles at any given point. (no food made on premise)
Evidently its a pretty big sports bar chain in Florida and just recently (about a year ago) opened up in Raleigh,NC.
Prices were high and IMO they did not have as many locals and they could have so I've stayed away, however I finally went last weekend and I can tell they've come down a bit on their prices.

I read this thinking the brewery, Yards, from Philly was opening distro in NC and it got me giddy thinking they were moving south.

Troegs would be sweet too, yes to yards as well, but I doubt it. Troegs is available in VA though, so maybe one day.

130 taps is mind boggling. Easily 10X more than the Pourhouse in Gso. For the grand opening I hope they have something fantastic floating around like KBS or Backwoods Bastard.

FYI, here's the website if you'd like to know what to expect.

For comparison, I think Tyler's has 80 taps. Hopefully the food (and beer, of course) will be good and reasonably priced. I live close to North Hills, so I will probably give it a shot eventually.

yeah I live pretty close to NH also. Not too crazy about another chain coming through but its NH so it's expected; slim pickings to find a good beer out and about in N. Raleigh so I will definitely be checking them out.

With 130 taps there will most certainly be something for everyone. I just hope in this case they don't go too heavy on the local stuff. They have to be represented, but I'd hate to see 30 local taps, IMO they're just not that good excluding Olde Hickory and some Foothills stuff.

it will be interesting to see how it's balanced. A lot of people make a big deal about tap quantity, but then you sit down at the bar and realize it's basically the year-round aisle at Total Wine on draught. I'm not saying that's a bad thing, but more doesn't always mean better. Taco Mac has this problem. The tap list hardly changes and after you've been a few times it loses it's appeal. All the while the place with 10-20 rotating taps, with a beer manager who gets creative with their orders, gives you a reason to keep coming back.

I agree the Mellow Mushroom bar manager in GSO is a beer geek, and has the best rotating selection in the area IMO. The MM is Burlington IMO sucks by comparison
