Idk what's available where you are, but as for someone new to craft beer, I'd recommend these six that shouldn't be to hard to get your hands on
Victory Storm King
Green Flash Double Stout
..I'd recommend branching out though. Try all kinds of styles
If you asked the same question next week this could very well change but...
1- Founders KBS
2- Russian River Supplication
3- DFH Festina Peche
4- Russian River Pliny The Elder
5- Central waters Barrel Aged Barleywine
6- Ill throw a New Glarus Belgian Red into the mix tonight too
Now if only I could get these year round, and in the same store!
I would love a six pack of tweak. Fuck it, barrel aged tweak.
HF Double Galaxy
LFL Double Sunshine
HF Society & Solitude #5
For me, it would be all IPA (and beers i have had and can get). In no order
Lake Erie Monster
Schlafly Tasmanian IPA
For a six pack of bombers:
Rye Da Tiger
Arctic Panzer Wolf
Does Fou' Foune x 6 count?
north coast old stock
bourbon barrel plead the 5th dark horse
shorts strawberry shorts cake
Troegs Nugget Nectar
Troegs Perpetual IPA
Russian River Pliny the Elder
Ballast Point Sculpin IPA
Firestone Walker Union Jack IPA
Ithaca Flower Power IPA
This is definitely subject to change, but......
Third Coast Old Ale
Victory At Sea
Assuming they have to be 12oz bottles that are distributed in my area...
GI Bourbon County Stout
Bells Black Note Stout
FFF Zombie Dust
New Glarus Fat Squirrel
I'd like to think I could be okay on those six for the rest of my life...
Goes to 11
Double Daisy Cutter
Pliney the Elder
Fuzzy Baby Ducks
Maybe not my DISP (Desert Island Six Pack), but before a flight home from an overseas trip where I had a fairly serious and very surprising medical issue, I suggested my bro and dad have some of these waiting for me. Suggestions based on what I thought might be available in the shops where they were (DFW). They had 'em all, and it amounted to a 6 pack:
The cool thing about the DISP is that it can be fluid and change from day to day. This may not have been my ultimate DISP for today, but based on what I thought they could procure this was my suggestion and the fam came through!
Cheers! And don't tattle to the doc....
Green Flash Rayon Vert
Founders Backwoods Bastard
DFH Palo Santo Marron
Wow. This has become quite the discussion! Thanks guys for the tips and awesome lists! I think I am going to try mix 6 of stouts since it's winter and I'm in the mood for dark beers
Given all of these are uber fresh:
Ispwich Oatmeal Stout
Heady Topper x2
Great Lakes Oktoberfest
Cigar City Jose Marti
The Breury Chocolate Rain
Andechser Doppelbock Dunkel
Limiting myself to beers I've never had and bottles (or cans) that would fit into a 6 pack:
Just goin` with what I've had recently (also throwing out seasonal and regional distribution to my location, all below are currently found in12 oz):
Impending Descent (troeg)
Black Chocolate Stout (brooklyn)
Broo doo, Zombie dust, great lakes Nosferatu , lagunitas red, Dark lord, Great Lakes Vanilla bean aged Edmund Fitzgerald Porter. *NOTE that last beer doesnt exist nor has it ever but we are talking dreams and it sounds pretty delicious.
3x Three Floyds Zombie Dust
3x Sierra Nevada Northern Hemmisphere Harvest
Mikkeller Beer Geek Brunch Weasel
Struise Brouwers Kabert
The Bruery Black Tuesday
La Trappe quadrupel oak aged batch 2
Nogne O Imperial Rye porter
Guinness foreign extra stout
Some world tour action
Westy 12, Dark Lord, Kate the Great, Kentucky Breakfast Stout, Bourbon County Brand Stout, Lady of the Woods.
Dunno if this would be my final six, but just the first six to pop in my head.
Blaber rare bbvbdl cable car lente crianza helena
Hop Slam, Black Note, Sucks, Cuvee Des Jacobin Rouge, Two Hearted and Schlafly TIPA.
Its hard to only pick 6 lol
It changes by the hour... but this particular hour:
1. Fat Head's Head Hunter
2. Heady Topper
3. Fuzzy Baby Ducks
4. Zombie Dust
6. Sea Hag
I'll take this and add M or Wooden Hell to it to fill out your whale sixer.
I'm assuming that we're talking about beers available in standard 12oz bottles / cans that could actually be put into a mix a 6 pack (ie. no bombers or 750s):
Goose Island BCS
Bell's Black Note
BBA Plead the 5th
Founders Backwoods Bastard
6x Heady Topper
I know Younger doesn't come in bottles, but whatever. I chose not to include retired beers as well.
Beers I haven't had:
1. Pliny the Younger
2. Westy 12
4. Heady Topper
5. Fou' Foune
6. Blåbær Lambik
Beers I've had:
1. Surly Wet
Hmm. are we talking Bombers or 12oz?
Bells "This Goes To 11"
New Glarus "Belgian Red"
That might change tomorrow though, who knows.
Sierra Nevada Celebration
Ballast Point Victory at Sea
Oskar Blues TenFIDY
List limited to beers that I have had.
Schlafly A IPA - talk about a most underhyped but top-tier IPA... Good to see it on someone's list here! I love that beer. Wish it was easier for me to obtain.
Since it's Winter, mine would be a mix of stouts and porters. Ask me again in Summer and you'll get a completely different answer.
1) FBS (OK, Summer? Winter? Who cares on this one. I'm thinking that a scoop of ice cream could go very nicely with it)
2) Great Lakes Edmund Fitzgerald
3) NH Dragon's Milk
4) LH Nitro
5) KBS (haven't tried this yet, but that's the beauty of a sixer, right?)
6) SN Narwhal
Nobody's favorite meal is meatloaf. Now meatloaf beer is a different story. If it is aged in Yellow Tail Shiraz barrels, sign me up STAT!
Edmund Fitzgerald porter
Enjoy By IPA
Pliny The Elder
