I poured for Boston Beer at the Denver Rare Beer Tasting a few years ago. We had a full keg of Utopias and were instructed to taste it as needed to make sure you can properly describe it...

It was a bit shorter than a moment, but a nice bottle shop owner let me smell the empty Utopias bottle the day after a tasting. The aroma was more like a fortified wine than a beer and given the opportunity, I'd try it, but will not make an extraordinay effort. For the price, my experience was satisfying enough.

I traded 2 bottles of Stone 2/2/02 for two Utopias (and a TON of other great stuff). Best $12 I ever spent.

Bought a bottle with my tax return this year. Didn't wait for a special occasion. Cracked it open on a random Wednesday night, sampled a bit, and left it for later days. I've given out about 4-5 ounces to friends since then, while sampling about another 2 ounces myself. Not in any sort of rush to finish the bottle.

I had a small pour in 2011 and was hooked (I was officially chasing the dragon). It was at a bar in Syracuse, NY after a beer festival. Even as drunk as we were, I remember that it had huge vanilla and maple flavors, the likes of which I have not been able to get anywhere since. The bartender was cool and let us take the bottle to the back of the bar, where the lighting was better to get a picture, and I drunkenly poured a lot more into our glass (I'm usually more moral than that...).

Fast forward to 2013's release and I won a bottle buying raffle tickets, for an Autism charity, at a local bar, and have enjoyed sharing it with friends since. It tastes completely different, but luckily I have developed a taste for port these last few years!

So I just had my first pour after my Ava Rose was born early this morning, and I would have to say it was worth the wait. Now I want to get my hands on some different vintages to try the difference. I just have some idea that none will beat this one.
    Cheers,

$10 for 1.5 oz. at Rustlco-Arlington. Interesting but no need to have it again.

The first time I tried Utopias was back in December. I had just come home from my third deployment and a good friend and partner in home brewing had purchased a bottle while I was gone, saving it for my return. We did a bottle share that night and he opened the Utopias to get it started.

Local bottle shop had a silent auction right before Christmas, reserve was set at $160 and I was the only bidder. Little did I know my wife had bought one for a Christmas gift. I am the proud owner of two bottle of Utopias, should last me the rest of my life. Not as funny then as it is now.

I got a bottle for my 30th birthday. I cracked it with my wife on a random Tuesday night. I was very surprised with what was in my glass. Not sure what I was expecting, but it wasn't that. I enjoyed my 2oz pour and recapped it, it's been untouched since. I'm glad I have a bottle to crack open when the time is right again, but I'm also glad I didn't spend the money on it.

Maybe when I get married in January or something along those lines. I can't justify shelling out that much especially when I am saving for a wedding.
