This is my first year as a BA and so many beers have come and gone from my fridge. The story for me has been an exploration of hops, what I like, what I can expect from different varieties, and even how varying malts play with them. I've discovered I'm a C-hops kinda guy at the moment, particularly Centennial. That said, my first review was Two Hearted, the beer that made me an advocate and set me out to find all things hoppy. The highlights from year one:

    Two Hearted
    Big Eye
    Modus Hoperandi
Lagunitas IPA, New Dogtown, and Little Sumpin' Sumpin' , but mostly SUCKS!!!
Founders is a great brewery (Centennial in cans will kick ass)
Tallgrass has dominated my fridge for a month
I love IPAs that come in cans (less to worry about, a 3 month old Big Eye in a can will dominate one from the bottle at one month, I know first hand)
FBS changed the way I look at beer tonight, I can't wait to share a 4 pack when my dad comes next week,he's been waiting for me to enjoy "a nice porter or stout"

What a year for me and my new-found love of beer. Thanks to all of you for the insights, humor, brutal honesty, and mostly passion for beer!

    19. Hunahpu Apple Brandy BA
    20. Ballast Point Victory at Sea

    Most unique beer:
Akarusho Biere de Banane: no carbonation, tasted of salted cashew nuts (yes everyone tasted those), vinegar & banana syrup, totally impossible to drink. Hard to imagine that this is a popular & common beer in Rwanda.

    Worst beer:
    Millevertus Saxy Chili (possibly infected)
Haacht Mystic Witbier met Limoen (worst non-infected beer)

Furu-dokei Junmai Kijo Dai-koshu Sake (unlike anything I ever expected sake could be, most complex thing ever)

I have tried 1098 beers so far this year. Pretty ridiculous I would say.

Its all TG beers that set the mark the best beers for me in 2013...

Tie for first place between KBBS and Morning Delight. I cant decide which I love more...its honestly a tie.

PseudoSue it is THE Zombie Dust killer. No contest...And I used to love ZD until PSue hit the scene. Sorry Three Floyds, but there is a new Sherriff in town when it comes to hoppy beers and its TG from Iowa!

I found two beers this year that I consider my go to session beers: Dupont Avril table beer and August Schell Star of the North. Both are 3.5%. Insanly drinkable. Sturdy and very flavorful beers.

Best Sour that I have drank this year is Cantillion Lou Pepe Fram. It was amazing.

Best Saison is Grassroot Bro Soigne. Blown away by this beer as well.
