Perennial Abraxas (2012). I would take this over any stout in the world. This includes BCBS or anything barrel aged.

    Also, Citra Ninja from Pipeworks.

Related to this, I just wrote a story for CNN with my Top 12 Beers of 2012:

There's obviously a ton of beers people would add to any kind of list like this, but is there anything you'd definitely take off the list? Anything you think doesn't belong or isn't worthy?

One of my new faves this year was Three Floyds Mentol, which I was lucky enough to find a few times in the Chicago area this summer and fall. A ridiculously smooth and unique brown IPA that I haven't come across on this thread yet.

Overall favorite was Apple Brandy Zhukov, though the excitement of trying it at DLD may have played into its awesomeness. And just yesterday I tried my #2 fave: Secret Rendezvous (nitro) at CCB, which was sneakily not included on their online tap list. Silky smooth chocolate bourbon amazingness-- definitely check it out if you're in the area. This little secret is only at the growler bar. :) Cheers, and here's to an even better 2013!
