Recently, probably that awful Mango Magnifico I just drain poured more than half of.

Not strictly speaking beer experience, but it did involve beer. Had two Grolsch 12-oz back in college but had followed it up mistakenly with a large slice of Domino's that we got as our daily "ration" on a club trip. Don't know what was in the pizza, but that made me drunk as a skunk. Never had such a reaction to two beers before or after. Didn't puke, but could not function for a couple of hours and nearly puked in the hotel bathtub. Never knowingly touched Domino's since.

Change the thread title from beer to liquor and I'd have quite a few more stories :grimacing:

I'd say it was the one night going out to the bar, had a Chimay white, a SN Big Foot, and Leviathan Imperial IPA all in about 45 mins (had to hurry, b/c we were supposed to head to another bar after with a shitty selection, so I felt the need to drink what I wanted quickly). This was after about 4 or 5 other high ABV beers before the bar. Had a Dead Guy at the next bar. Let's just say, I felt like a dead guy the rest of the night and the next morning...

Had a pretty good beer tasting which involved not finishing a few bombers. Instead of dumping the beers, I put the near-empty bottles in my fridge. Woke up the next morning with a pretty rough hangover, but though I'd try the flat Black Tuesday that had been sitting in my fridge.

    That sip was toughhhhhhhhh.

Splitting a Magnum of Stone Double Bastard between three people before going to dinner. Beer was amazing. Turning into a double bastard in public wasn't.

Toasting our rec bowling league championship at Hopworks (Portland) a couple years ago... We all clink glasses in a hearty 'cheers!' and then the entire bottom falls out of my mug, all 20 ounces of IPA landed squarely in my lap... :slight_frown:

    Not cool!

But HUB DID give me a replacement pint full, despite my soaked pants

When getting beer for an outing and I only had a run-of-the-mill corner store's beer selection, however there was one beer in the corner which i had never heard of (at the time) called: Wild Blue.
It was also expensive at over $10 per six pack...first few tastes and "but i dont get it, i though this was beer"

Drinking a Hefe (forgot what it was) at a bar/restaurant and not realizing there was a chunk of glass in my beer until the very last sip. My guess was that it was from the bottom of the glass that was stacked in it. Needless to say, the entire meal was comp'd. And when I say chunk, I'm talking a solid 2 inches long!

I spent four hours in front of a computer during last week's Duck Duck Gooze release, which was frustrating, but I know there are people out there who've had FAR more horrendous experiences during a bottle release or tapping. If you have a bad beer release story, share it here.

The first Hunahpu day I went to was quite the shitshow. Hundreds of people crammed in the small brewery in the Florida heat waiting for them to start selling bottles which of course ran late. When they finally did start selling bottles, they tried to force us into four single-file lines for each of the variants which seemed impossible at the time but it somehow managed to happen. Not only was I lucky enough to pick the only line that extended back next to the bathrooms (which was greatly needed because of all the drinking done) but it was also the line for the rum barrel variant which was the one I wanted and we had no idea which line was for which variant. Got my one $25 bottle and my friend got his bourbon barrel one after waiting for 2 hours, we looked at the line of people who'd shown up late and now extended out past the lot and into the street and said "screw this, let's get outta here." I felt like I was at some overcrowded music festival the whole time. The Huna day that went down this year was much bigger but much more organized and fun. Yeah, the lines were ridiculous but I got to try a bunch of rare beers while in line that I never would've been able to try if I hadn't gone.

Went to a reunion back in Maryland at which our hosts had arranged a beer tasting, set up by a Maryland importer's rep who brought nothing but his company's gak-inducing line-up of third-rate German lagers. TWELVE of 'em. By the end of the day, I walked nineteen blocks to the nearest bar so I could get a Celebrator.

went to Tree house in Brimfield, Ma. Filled some growlers and 750ml growlers and when we got home one of the 750's blew out the bottom of the glass. Covered the back seat of the car in beer.

Get the House Lambic at The Publican.
I agree, the service can be spotty at best.

Worst beer experience for me was from a bottle share event that I went to earlier this year. I probably sampled close to 20 beers. Most of them were BA'd and I made the mistake of not eating and drinking water prior and during the event. When my ride got there to pick me up, she wasn't happy when I got in the car because I was completely trashed and she had to cancel plans for the rest of the day after seeing me puking in a trash can outside a shopping mall parking lot. Followed by a pretty rough hangover.

Can't say that it wasn't worth it.

My brother in-law and I went to a little micro brewery and brewing supply in Detroit about 2 years ago. Can't remember the name but it was something like Mad Dog or something like that. The owner/brewer had what he called a Imperial IPA on tap so we gave it a try. The first and only flavor we got smacked in the face with was burnt wood. Not smokey wood, burnt wood! It was so strong and just horribly bad we actually poured them out behind the bar when he went into a back room. That was 2 years ago and I can still clearly taste that beer. The owner was acutally proud of it and said he had almost perfected the recipe. He was so excited about it we couldn't even give him some honest feedback. We just left.

Needless to day, that place did not last much longer.

HICU from Magic Hat. After one drink, I was done. NASTY! All I kept thinking was, 'who was the genius who approved this recipe?'

Best and worst almost at the same time. The best: drinking 11 liters of beer at the Octoberfest in Munchen. The worst: the day after drinking 11 liters of beer at the Octoberfest in Munchen.
