One of the best days of the year! I feel bad for the south though. Looks like a lot of Southerners would have to do some travelling.

In short, each year, Cantillon puts out a special beer that is tapped around the world all on one special day; Zwanze Day. It's only on tap, though I believe they do bottle a little bit that's only available at the brewery. Each year tends to be a different beer than years past, which makes going to one of the designated places to try it all that much special. Plus, at least it is for the Chicago location, most places will also break out some other special beers either on tap and/or in bottles. It's a cool experience to be had and I'd highly recommend going to the closest location if you have the time.

Just a further reminder that it really is quite a thing to have a top tier bar like Holy Grale around.

Sounds like a really cool idea even though that is not the type of beer I usually enjoy. I hope you and everyone else have a great time and thanks for teaching me something new today. Cheers!

Looking domestically, if you had your choice, which location would you hit up? Thinking combo of least likely to be a shitshow or involve being in line before dawn and potential for other Cantillon beers to be cracked open at non-outrageous (for Cantillon) prices.

Portland was pretty laid back. 50 people in line when the doors opened but after everyone got their initial pours you could freely get another pour if you liked. Both Zwanze kegs lasted into the early part of the night. I had friends from GA drive to the Holy Grale and they had a much different experience. Sounded like it was much more of a Cantillion focused event with multiple bottles being opened. That being said they waited outside very early in the morning and were the last people to get tickets to go in. Sounded like a good number of people had to be turned away.

Check WLV liquors periodically as they will release all the info on their website. $50-60 entry fee. Unlimited pours of everything except Zwanze. Vintage bottle sales. Ability to bottle share except in line. Do not wait in line as there is absolutely no need to for a 7 hour event. Come and leave as you wish. It's pretty chill Lots of skinny jeans and large black framed glasses. I'll be in a t shirt and cargo shorts. Come say hi.

Edit: Purchase your entrance fee at the store. No pre sale tickets. No first come, first serve. We all win 9/19.

Oh man, that was the day that I was planning on making a Hill Farmstead run (I randomly have one day available and have never been to VT)....anyone ever been to HF for a Zwanze day event? Is it open like normal? Will I need a ticket just to visit?

    Thanks!

Alewiife got dumped for Fool's Gold? Too bad since Alewife is a large space with second floor with outside terrace. I know NYC got TWO locations but wish we could have had all three since Spuyten Duyvil is like a broom closet in size.

I highly recommend Armsby Abbey. We went last year and got there around noon, seated right away and had a blast. The staff did a great job. It was busy but really well run.

Can any NC folk inform me of whether or not there has ever been a location in this state that's been host of a Zwanze day? I'm pretty sure there wasn't one in NC last year either. Just wondering if I should ever expect to attend one here or if the chances are super slim.

Last year the Iowa event sold tickets in advance. They put 4 or 5 Cantillon beers on tap and some other awesome rare beers. I bought 3 Cantillon bottles to take home. The beers were ticketed with everyone getting one pour of each. Well ran.

I bought tickets (airplane that is) to Missouri for this year's event. Really hoping they'll do tickets as well. First come first served can be bad sometimes.

Planning on being at ChurchKey in DC. Anyone have any insight into how its run there? Planning on being there early, but is it a total shitshow trying to get in, or is it doable? Tickets in advance? Does CK typically get other Cantillon beers on tap?

Spuyten Duyvil is ginormous (when you consider the backyard) compared to Monk's in Philly. I'd be surprised if Monk's isn't the smallest place on the list.
