The Oregon event was super random last year. It was billed as this EVENT, but it just ended up being 2-3 cantillon beers on tap, and like 50 people showed up.

The cool part was you could get as much as you want, and did not have to fight crowds.

The bad part was no bottle sales or any extra stuff going on

Do you think the fact that it's a stout instead of a sour will lead to smaller crowds?

It's a sour stout, so I would like to say yes since that's a very niche style that a lot of people don't seem to like, but I think for this event it's more about being at Zwanze and having the chance to drink all the other Cantillons too.

Hopefully WLVL Puts up some information on this soon, I only get to head up there once every couple of months and would like to schedule a day when I know tickets are gonna be available.

And because doing things like this is unfortunately the only way they can get people to go to FG. I've gone to FG on a Thursday/Friday night and been able to walk straight up to grab a seat at the bar on most of those occasions. The Jeffrey's taplist quality was killed to dedicate a lot of the better offerings to FG when they opened, and not even that really gave it a major boost.

I couldn't imagine Monk's on Zwanze Day... its cramped enough there in even the oddest of hours.

Who has gone to Monk's for Zwanze Day before? What has the process been?

Is there a ticket system or any process involved for Fool's Gold (Manhattan) or Spuyten Duyvil (Brooklyn)?

I asked a friend who I know went to Monk's last year. This is his response (not able to log in to answer himself at the moment):

"Last year Monk's was pretty crowded. They didn't tap Zwanze until later in the day but there was a very long line when they opened because they were selling Cantillion bottles in the back room. Everything stayed on tap for a reasonable amount of time but bottles definitely sold very quickly"

Thanks Brother. I figured I'd have to camp a little... and the Philly beer scene loves to camp so I'm prepared. haha

I went to Monk's during NHC a few years back and given the last couple of posts, I think I'll try my luck at ChurchKey in DC.

Not a chance IMO. From every person I have talked to who has attended before, the actual Zwanze beer is hardly the main attraction, it's the rest of the Loons and lambics and the epic bottle shares that bring everyone in.

Monk's is a total madhouse for Zwanze events. Notice I said madhouse.

Got my reservation set for Iowa to enjoy my first Zwanze Day with my good buddy from Decorah. A 2:1 trip is beer heaven.
