    From Brasserie Cantillon on Facebook:

    Dear Friends,

This year's Zwanze Day will take place on Saturday September 28th.

The beer for this year's Zwanze was brewed in March 2016 and kegged January 26th 2018.

Contrary to past Zwanze beers, this beer is not the result of a special blend or the addition of a special fruit, but of a wholly unique brew.

On March 1st 2016, we brewed a smoked Lambic using a blend of classic pilsner malt and smoked malt.

Rather than taking the beer to an extreme, we looked instead to find a balance between the acidic character of Lambic and the woodiness of the smoked malt.

The result is a fine Gueuze with the classic notes of a Cantillon, complemented by an elegant smokiness in the nose and on the palate.

    Zwanze locations will follow soon.

    Santeï !!

From Facebook: As promised, here are the locations hosting this year’s Zwanze Day on Saturday, September 29th! Due to problems we had with a few defective keykegs, we unfortunately had to reduce the number of Zwanze locations this year. We hope next year this won’t be a problem, and that we’ll be able to have as many participants as the years before. Cheers!

So I'm going to try to make the one in Nashville this year. What can I expect? Is it only their beer and only that one beer? Do they bring kegs of their other beer?

I have not been to Nashville, but have been to other locations a bunch of times. Always a lot of other options, some in kegs and some in bottles. Each facility runs their day differently other than the Zwanze toast.

I've still never been to one of these. And my wife will be away that weekend so I'll need something to do, and Richmond is only two hours away..

Am I the only one not excited by the idea of a smoked lambic??

I've thoroughly enjoyed the last 3 or 4 Zwanze Days here in FL..and Jean certainly does some amazing things with beer...but that just doesn't sound appealing to me at all.

I thought it sounded pretty interesting. And for Zwanze day I am not necessarily excited solely for the Zwanze brew. It is just one of many of the interesting brews I will be able to try.

From my experience they have the toast beer, plus send like 3-4 more other beers. Then the local brewery will put on tap their special beers or pop bottles of special beers. Basically expect 4-5 Cantillon beers and everything else is just “extra”

Historically most of the Zwanze beers have been just okay, and I agree this one seems to fit that bill. But Zwanze Day is much more about the communal toasting experience and drinking tons of other great beer that always pops up. To me, the actual Zwanze beer is a fairly small part of the overall day.

A reasonable point from both of you for sure. There was a lot of great beer to be had each time I've been to a Zwanze Day, whichever place it was held. This is just the first Zwanze offering I can remember that doesn't have my interest piqued at all.

I went in 2017. Its a great event. De Garde always puts together an exceptional list. Id recommend getting there early, they will normally have some very limited bottles on a first come first serve basis. I was able to buy a b1 Broken Truck

Anyone know any details about Jester King? They made their announcement August 3 last year. Ive got travel booked to be in Austin for Zwanze. Im in the minority of people excited for smoked lambic, purely based on what I hope JK's new kitchen creates to go along with the beer.
