Meddlesome Moth, located at 1621 Oak Lawn Ave., will host a special beer dinner featuring Brooklyn Brewery out of Brooklyn, N.Y., on Monday, Sept. 17 at 6 p.m., with special guest Steve Hindy, co-founder and owner of the brewery.

Hindy, a former writer for The Associated Press and the author of the book “Beer School: Bottling Success at The Brooklyn Brewery,” will guide the night’s beer experience, beginning with a pre-dinner glass of Brewmaster’s Reserve Fiat Lux Witbier.

The evening will continue with a five-course dinner paired with a lineup of some of Brooklyn’s very special brews. The first course of the evening will be Togarashi scallop, buttered rice grits, saison-pickled cauliflower salad and ham cracklings, paired with the farmhouse ale Sorachi Ace. A second course of sweet late summer corn pancake topped with cedar-planked salmon and fresh fennel tartar sauce will be accompanied by Brooklyn’s Local 1, a Belgian-style strong golden ale. Diners will then enjoy crispy duck wing confit with malt syrup, pink pepper corn and cider vinegar glaze, served with Blast Imperial IPA, followed an exciting fourth course of 18-hour roasted pork shoulder with pickled hop shoots and Inner Beauty served with 2010 Black Chocolate Stout. The dessert course will be Reblochon cheesecake topped with barley wine and cherry brittle along with 2007 Brooklyn Monster English, a vintage barley wine. One final Brooklyn specialty brew will be available at the bar after dinner – 2011 Black Ops, a barrel-aged Russian imperial stout.

Tickets for the event are $75 for the general public and $65 for Delirium Guild members. Ticket price includes tax and gratuity, and guests can purchase tickets at the Moth or by calling 214-628-7900. Reservations are strongly recommended, as this event is likely to sell out.
