Brew Talks

Going: 0 | Watching: 0 | Invited: 0, the Watertown, Mass.- based news publication dedicated to serving the exciting and rapidly evolving craft beer community, is hosting Brew Talks, an industry discussion focused on the importance of supporting local brewers.

Brew Talks, happening Thursday, Jan. 17 at Stoddard’s Fine Food & Ale in Boston, Mass. will feature beers from five local craft breweries and a panel discussion with local industry members.

The panel will be moderated by editor Chris Furnari and includes three guest speakers: Chris Lohring of Notch Brewing, Brian Murphy of Massachusetts Beverage Alliance and Kevin Martin of Eastern Standard Kitchen and Drink. Each panelist will discuss the challenges brewers, distributors and bar owners face when working with each other to sell locally crafted beer.

Drawing on each their experience from all three tiers of the beer industry, Lohring, Murphy and Martin will discuss how craft brewers can work with, instead of against, retail partners to better sell craft beer. By discussing a set of best practices for earning (and keeping) draught placements, the trio will explain how continued on-premise support of local brands is vital to the growth of the entire craft beer category.

Limited release beers from Notch Brewing, Backlash Beer Company, Jack’s Abby, Baxter Brewing and Boston Beer Company will start flowing at 6:30 p.m. and the panel discussion will begin at 7:00 p.m. in the newly renovated ‘Friday Club,’ located in downstairs area of Stoddard’s. Admission is free and local craft brewers are invited to come learn and network with other industry professionals.
