The One and Only OAK CASK of the NEW Heavy Seas Big DIPA!

Heavy Seas has been hard at work on a new version of the Big DIPA, their well-known Imperial IPA...we are excited to announce that the new iteration remains 10.5% abv and literally loaded with hops...but the new Big DIPA will also be aged on oak spirals, layering the deliciously complex brew with toasted vanilla and oaky notes...

Look for the NEW Big DIPA to hit the market in late March...

In the meantime!?!?!?!

Heavy Seas has graciously filled one of their 12 old English OAK casks with a trial batch of the Big DIPA...and next Tuesday at 6 pm, we will be tapping it...word is that this will be the only such oak cask of this brew in the greater DC area...and you will not want to miss it!

In addition to the oak notes from conditioning on the oak spirals, wood nuances from the old wooden cask will enter the flavor fold...for good measure, the Cellar Master at Heavy Seas, Chris Mallon, tossed 3 oz. of whole-cone Cascade hops as well as some toasted cherry wood chips right into the old English oak cask! We hear Chris will be on hand as well, so stop by to chat with the man behind this very special cask!
