A Night with Logsdons Farmhouse Ales

We are looking forward to a night of amazing beers from one of our favorite Breweries, Logsdon Organic Farmhouse Ales. We'll be joined by John Plutshack, one of the owners of Logsdons, to talk about the Brewery over a half dozen of their Ales.

Far West Vlaming - This red ale is brewed in traditional West Flanders style. A combination of light, crystal, and dark barley malt, wheat, and oats are brewed with local whole-cone hops and variety of select yeast and lactic bacteria. We age our red ale in oak barrels for a periodof time to develop complex richness, soft tannins, and fruity tart character.The ages beer is then blended with young beer to create the desired balance of malt sweetness with a dry finish.

Seizoen - Our unfiltered Seizoen, with its beeswax seal, is naturally fermented and carbonated with pear juice and select yeast strains, producing complex, fruity and spicy flavors balanced with whole hops and a soft malt character

Seizoen Bretta - This unfiltered bottle of seizoen, with it's beeswax seal, is naturally refermented and carbonated with select yeast strains, producing fruity and spicy flavors that are balanced by hops and soft malt character. Special Brettanomyces yeast provides added dryness and crisp complexity to the Seizoen Bretta. Bottle conditioned with pear juice for a natural carbonation.

Kili Wit - Our Kili Wit is a traditionally brewed white beer with refreshing flavors and creamy smoothness. This is a 100% certified organic beer brewed with local organic barley malt, wheat and oats along with whole cone Oregon hops and African spice. This beer is made with a portion of the proceeds going to the K2 Adventures Foundation that provides community service, medical and educational enrichment for African children.

Peche 'n' Brett - Our seasonal oak aged organic peach beer is brewed with local Oregon fruit. Peche 'n Brett is brewed and refermented with the peaches in our Seizoen Bretta. One and a half pound of peaches are added to each gallon of Bretta to produce a secondary fermentation resulting in complex peach aroma and flavor, hop balance and subtle malt character, followed up with brettanomyces and oak derived fruity dryness. Final refermentation with pear juice provides natural carbonation with added aromas and flavors in the bottle.

Aberrant - Logsdon Farmhouse Ales was always meant to be a collaboration project between it's three owners, Dave Logsdon, Chuck Porter and John Plutshack. Though the initial brand carries Dave Logsdon's name and made a big critical and beer geek splash taking home awards and accolades many did not know that Head Brewer Chuck Porter was working on unleashing his own line. The first of these in what will be called the "Bergschrund Signature Series" is named "Aberrant" an Organic Farmhouse Golden Ale.
