COLUMBUS SUMMER BEERFEST EXPANDS
"THE BEST COLUMBUS BEER PARTY OF THE SUMMER!"
Columbus, OH – Craft Beer’s biggest event of the Summer, the Columbus Summer Beerfest Presented By (614) Magazine, takes place on August 16 & 17, and brings a lot of additions this year. The most noticeable of which is the expansion to 2 nights. “Last year was so successful (a sellout), that we worked with Promowest to expand the event to 2 nights. This puts it in line with our Columbus Winter Beerfest (January 17 & 18, 2014). It gives people the option of the less crowded Friday and sometimes you can’t take Saturday night off work. We will also be adding the Clippers Parking lot to provide even more room for attendees, so we have the entire indoor/outdoor complex AND the Columbus Clippers baseball team's Parking lot….so that’s going to be fantastic. But we are even more excited to announce our new collaborations with the Columbus Brewing Company and with the Ohio Craft Brewers Association” said Craig Johnson, Co-Director of Columbus Beerfest.

All proceeds from the actual Beerfest again go to the Big Joe Duskin Music Foundation and their local partners The Columbus Jazz Arts Group. Last year, over $55,000 was raised to pay for Musical Presentations (by professional bands) in over 40 Columbus area elementary schools (many of them with underfunded or non-existent music programs) reaching over 15,000 and getting them excited about learning to play musical instruments and be taught life lessons of Mutual Respect, Accepting Diversity, Self Expression through music.

Official Columbus Beerfest Ale: Columbus Brewing Company will be brewing the inaugural official Columbus Beerfest Ale. “It’s defined as a Hop forward Summer Pale Ale, with Citra, Zythos, and Amarilo hops, around 5.5% ABV, and 45 IBU’s that is meant to be an easy drinking beer. It will be available at great craft beer bars around town via Superior Distributing”, said Tony Corder of Columbus Brewing Company. “We’ve bought custom Tap Handles, and can’t wait to hear what everyone thinks. It’s a great way to support local breweries, and get people talking about the upcoming Summer Beerfest at the LC” said Johnson.

Inaugural Columbus Beer Week is announced for April, 2014! “Tasting Room Trolley” Event August 24 To Help spread The News! Columbus will finally get its own official craft beer celebration week. Beer Weeks have popped up across the country in recent years including in Cleveland, Dayton, and Cincinnati and now Columbus gets to join the party. The Columbus Beer Week will be “A Celebration of All That Is Great About Great Beer!” The 2014 Columbus Beer Week will conclude with an All Ohio Beerfest to benefit the OCBA the details of which are still being finalized.

The Tasting Room Trolley event will take place on Saturday, August 24 between Noon and 6pm, and the exact dates of the 2014 Columbus Beer Week will be announced during the event. Chartered buses will leave from one designated spot and shotgun out to all of the city’s Brewery Tap Rooms…then rotate all afternoon…and return to the original location. $25 Tickets will include a souvenir glass, tshirt, and the transportation. Beer will be an additional cost. More details to follow. The event will be produced by Columbus Beerfest and the Ohio Craft Brewers Association, with all proceeds going towards the Association’s efforts to support Ohio’s growing Craft Beer Industry.

All proceeds from Official Beer Week Venue Registrations will go to the non-profit Ohio Craft Brewers Association to help Columbus and all Ohio breweries become even more successful, and to help tell the world about the great beer being brewed here.
