"The Complete Beer Course" Book Signing w/ Author Josh Bernstein + The DC Debut of 5 New Wave NYC Craft Brewers on Tap!

On Saturday afternoon, September 28th, we welcome acclaimed beer writer, and close friend, Josh Bernstein back to ChurchKey for the release of his second craft beer tome, "The Complete Beer Course: Boot Camp for Beer Geeks: From Novice to Expert in Twelve Tasting Classes". Josh will be in the house, signing copies of his new book, talking about his ultimate beer training manual, and tasting some of the crazy beer we will be pouring for this occasion...

When Josh and our Beer Director Greg Engert first began discussing this event, it was quickly decided that there had to be a very special beer element. Josh, a New Yorker and longtime champion of the bourgeoning NYC craft beer scene, suggested the possibility of bringing some of his favorite new and local brews down for the event...next thing we knew, Josh and Greg had arranged to showcase 13 different drafts from 5 NYC craft brewers, each of which had not--until this event--been featured outside of the NYC metro area!

So in addition to meeting Josh, and grabbing a copy of his indispensable book, our event on Saturday afternoon, September 28th will offer our guests an opportunity to taste the brand-new & exciting beers of SingleCut Beersmiths and Rockaway Brewing (from Queens), KelSo Beer and Grimm Artisanal Ales (from Brooklyn), and Barrier Brewing Co. (from Long Island). You do not want to miss this!

There is no admission fee for this event. All NYC Craft drafts will be priced individually by the glass and in 4 oz. tasting pours.

The Draft List:
KelSo Brandy Brett Saison
KelSo Pilsner
KelSo Fuku
Barrier Bittersweet Pale Ale
Barrier Unimperial Session IPA

More on "The Complete Beer Course: Boot Camp for Beer Geeks: From Novice to Expert in Twelve Tasting Classes":

It's a great time to be a beer drinker, but also the most confusing, thanks to the dizzying array of available draft beers. Expert Joshua M. Bernstein comes to the rescue with The Complete Beer Course, demystifying brews and breaking down the elements that make beer's flavor spin into distinctively different and delicious directions. Structured around a series of easy-to-follow classes, his course hops from lagers and pilsners to hazy wheat beers, Belgian-style abbey and Trappist ales, aromatic pale ales and bitter IPAs, roasty stouts, barrel-aged brews, belly-warming barley wines, and mouth-puckering sour ales. There is even a class on international beer styles and another on pairing beer with food and starting your own beer cellar. Through suggested, targeted tastings, you'll learn when to drink down-and when to dump those beers down a drain.
