Beer Meets Wood | September 23, 2017 | Portland Company Complex
Bringing greater awareness to the centuries-old practice of aging beer in wooden barrels.
Be it fresh or toasted oak, American or French, bourbon or wine-soaked, aged for months or years, or all funked up with wild yeast and bacteria, there's just something mysterious and magical about introducing beer to wood. To celebrate this union, BeerAdvocate (BA) is stoked to announce the first installment of its Beer Meets Wood festival series, featuring some of the country's best brewers dedicated to the craft of maturing beer in wooden vessels.
The one-day, two-session event will be held on Saturday, September 23 at 58 Fore Street in Portland, Maine, and will feature hundreds of beers matured and changed by wood-aging. Once again, we're honored to be sponsored by Allagash Brewing Company.
Brewer attendance is required to ensure the highest level of representation and education.
And, as always, BA pays for the beer and waives booth fees to further support the brewers. To date we've spent well-over $2 million on beer poured at our fests.
