LOOK - very hazy and only about 1/4" of head on this one - not very active at all - not that interesting
SMELL - nice floral notes - some citrus - some orange juice - some yeast - and quite a bit of spice - some caramel notes
TASTE - nice tang upon first sip - great yeast flavor - some citrus - a lot of spices - some orange
FEEL - medium bodied - very flat and uninteresting
OVERALL - this is decent, but it needs more carbonation - nice yeast and spice but may be too heavy on the spice and a bit too caramelly - pretty good but would go to more traditional Wits that I prefer to this one

Presentation: 12 oz. can with no dates. Served in a tulip shaped tumbler.

Appearance: The one finger head stays around for a bit and leaves behind a thin foam ring and some lacing in big patches. It's a slightly hazy antique gold color.

Smell: It's a soft and pleasant aroma of chamomile tea and fresh coriander with a touch of anise.

Taste: A fruity, sweet, tangerine flavor hits the palate first followed by a refreshing floral note and some spices towards the end.

Mouthfeel: It's soft, light and refreshing with medium low carbonation.

Overall A simple and refreshing beer with a very pleasant aroma and flavor.

I'm not sure why people don't like this beer. It's not totally a traditional witbier, but it's still pretty good. You definitely get the described chamomile flowery taste that goes along with the usual orange peel and coriander. That may not be for everyone, but I thought it worked fine. Happy to see a witbier that tries to do something a little different.

Hazy light gold color, slight white collar reducing to thin edge only. Slight floral aroma. Spicy beery taste.

Lava Lake pours a hazy golden color, with not much head. Nice dry fruit aroma; lots of spices. Flavor is on the lighter side, but a very nice rich citrus flavor, good spice notes; very refreshing. Good body and feel. Overall, not a typical witbier, lighter, crisper and fruitier.

Appearance – The beer pours an orange-amber color with a one finger head of fizzy foam. The head has a decent level of retention, slowly fading over time to leave a good level of foamy lace on the sides of the glass.
Smell- The aroma of the brew is biggest of clove and coriander smell along with a little bit of yeast and wheat malt. Along with these aromas comes a bit of hay and grass.
Taste – Unfortunately, the taste is rather bland overall. The spice flavors of coriander and clove are by far the most pronounced and are joined by a somewhat moderate wheaty taste. As the taste moves on from those somewhat lighter tastes, some very light flavors of banana, a bit of grass and hay, and hints of citrus and yeast come to the tongue. All said, in the end, one is left with a somewhat bland, spiced, wheat bread taste to linger on the tongue.
Mouthfeel – For the lighter tastes and the moderate abv., the thin body and higher carbonation level are rather good and help one to take the brew down rather easily.
Overall – This beer lacks a lot in the flavor department and overall is rather boring. While most Crazy Mountain brews I rather like, this one is sub-par.
