Being my hometown I'm a bit biased but I've never had a bad time or experience here at ABC. Bit difficult to find the front door the first time (it's around the side of the building nearest the tracks) but it always has a space for you. Full big bar area to sit up to, several stand alone tables and the outside seating in summer always gives it plenty of space and flow. Have good musical guests for events and just because. Offer popcorn and have delivery special discounts with several local places near by. Beers are clean and very drinkable. Even have bombers available (chilled) to purchase on the way out.

Servers are always fun, helpful, and pleasant to talk with. Overall, after or before Gallagher's next door, try ABC.

A favorite hang out. Beer is good. Very casual. This is what it would be like if you when to a friends house who had a great bar and entertains every night. This is not a suit and tie place and doesn't try to be, and I like it that way.

I visited American Brewing Company last night on a mini-tour of Edmonds breweries (there are only two). I had been to American before but I thought I'd refresh my memory of the place.

The brewery has a clean, modern look with lots of exposed tanks and a general industrial feel and a couple of TVs behind the bar for entertainment. They have a popcorn machine for snacking, which filled the whole place with the aroma of popcorn butter (which can be good or bad, depending on your preference; I could do without it), and will cook up an 8" pizza for you if you're hungry. Business was pretty slow, so service was quick, but my server was friendly and knowledgeable as well.

The beer is OK; American's beers don't usually impress me. I'd say stick to the darker beers, especially the stout; if you get a flight of 6, skip the Blonde. They only had 7 offerings on tap while I was there, plus a guest cider on tap, with an emphasis on their regular offerings. Still, it will be worth going back to see what they can do with their rotating and seasonal offerings.

A: Strolled in on a Saturday afternoon right when they opened. Was meeted by a very nice server who happened to be flying solo. The outdoor patio area was already somewhat busy and a few people surrounding the bar. It is a pretty spacious place. A big open bay door opens up to the outside. Tables surrounding the bar which happens to be a nice L Shaped bar. Very casual and relaxing

Q: My firs sip of the IPA months ago forced me to leave the Breakaway with a big ol D- but I resampled and found it much more drinkable. The Caboose Oatmeal Stout was very good so the quality rounds out as Good across the board.

S: Service was good. She mentioned she previously worked at the Green Dragon in Portland. Very nice and on the job.

S: Considering it is still somewhat new, less than a year I let the rating slide a bit on selection. The handles were standard. IPA, Pale, Stout, Red. usually I look for something a bit different and a offering I cant find anywhere else. I can just about find Caboose and Breakaway anywhere.

F: No food, did not try
