Just down the road from the Stags Head. This music venue has an above average selection of tap beers. Nothing in bottles it looks like. As I walk in, there is a long bar that follows the wall to the back exit, where the beer garden is. They have a lot of wines as well. This seems more like a wine bar than a beer bar. Though they have some goodies. They rotated taps out regularly as well. I was surprised to see Arrogant Bastard and Maudite on tap. I had the Anchor X-mas 08. Also available was Belhaven, some New Belgian, Youngs, and a some Sierra Nevada. The selection is not as good as other places around Houston. Though they are going for about ten high quality taps instead of tons of beer on the wall. The service is not bad, though nothing out of the ordinary or offensive. They have an interesting menu. Next time I come I should give the food a try. There is also a stage for a band, and some autographed photos of great musicians (BB King caught my eye). I here they play folk/Celtic music. Definitely a place I will visit again. It is great to see a venue like this that cares about their beer selection.

I hit up this place last Friday night before going to Skynyrd. They have a pretty decent selection of draft beers (haven't seen too many pubs that feature Arrogant Bastard on tap), and along with the bottle selection it is pretty easy to find something that you like. Food is pretty good; basic pub fare, but very well made. I had the sirloin sandwich, and my dad tried the chili, and both were above average. Their bread pudding is damn good (drenched in Irish whiskey, mmm...) and the wait staff is attentive and friendly. Although if you are on the back porch outside it does take em a bit longer to get your orders. Live music is supposed to be very good here, and the atmosphere is cozy and offers a good view of the stage from wherever you sit. I will update this review after I have checked out the live music later.

A solid pub that would be a good place for a small gathering or just a pint or two after work.

This is very decent place to catch live music (Folk and or Celtic folk amongst others). The beer selection is fair. The service is good. The atmosphere is more like a real English pub (as good as it gets in Houston) Though the Richmond Arms is more like a real pub.

For live music with good beer selection - a definite good place. If you are going for a live show be sure to check for the smoking or non-smoking show. If you are a none smoker that is not typically bothered by smoke this place can bother you. More smoke than a Cheech & Chong movie. (tobacco smoke that is).
