Well hello old friend, a nice dark mild to grace us during MARCH MILDNESS. We brewed this one with Maris Otter and a fun assortment of dark and roasted malts and hopped it with a bit of Fuggles and Polaris. It has notes of pumpernickel, dried fig, old library books, black currant jam, coffee over ice, and some homemade biscuits.

Cask pour at Fishtown location. Dimpled mug, dark brown pour, thick, dense, creamy beige head. Malty aroma, mild roast. Taste comes in with a gentle, roasty flavor, part chocolate and minor coffee notes. The cask creaminess carries it over the top.

16oz can into a pint mug. No freshness dating.

Dark brown body, small cream head, specks of lacing. Earthy malty aroma. On tasting, clean, malty, earthy, nutty, faintest coffee notes. Finish is mildly drying.

Overall, nice dark mild, happy to have another 3 in reserve.

Had on cask at Churchkey in DC. Really excellent interpretation of the style, extremely English tasting and yet somehow still a little different than what you'd actually get in England. Very nutty, very malty, super smooth and creamy, sweet but not too sweet. Also a bit of a very slight spiciness in the aftertaste. Unique and a real treat if you find it on cask.

Poured into a wide mouth grip shaped goblet: color is dark brown, amber edges, head is tan with fine/dense bubbles, head dissipates to thin top, spotty lacing on the glass sides.

Smell is cocoa, toffee, dark sugar, grassy hops, on point.

Taste is more toffee forward, cocoa, dark sugar, hops with earth and grass; simple yet incredible. Love milds.

Mouthfeel is maybe a touch carbonic but not overcarbonated, moderate sweetness, finish is low bitterness.

Sooo easily drinkable and flavorful ... need more milds

Look- Dark brown that let's a good amount of light through when held up to a light source. Frothy light mocha head. 4.75

Smell- sweet toffee, caramelized sugar, toasted bread, chocolate with light roasty earthiness notes 5

Taste- chocolate, subtle light roast coffee, nutty, vanilla 4.5

Feel- Full creamy mouthful, light carbonation 4.5

Overall- Dark Milds are becoming my favorite beer (at the moment). Easy drinking full flavored beer. Thus is a remarkable example of the style. 4.5

4/27/25 - (Can - Home) (Chicago, IL) Can Notes: Purchased at Beer on the Wall at Park Ridge at store temperature for $4.55 including tax on March 22, 2025. Refrigerated upon returning home until opening this evening. 16 oz,, no can date, distributed week ended 3/21/25, 3.8% ABV. Keep Cold - Drink Fresh. Brewed and packaged by Forest & Main Brewing Company, 241 N. Main Street, Ambler, Pennsylvania.

Appearance: First pour about 10 oz into a nonic glass, yielding a crystal clear dark chestnut brown base, and generous tax white creamy bubbly head, which yields significant soapy lacing and a creamy cover above the base. Looks great! 4.5

Aroma: Pumpernickel, caramel, toffee, fresh southern style biscuits out of the oven and brown sugar while making cookies. Strong in flavor and pleasure. 4.25

Taste: Consistent with the aroma, all flavors are fresh and popping, gulping this down quickly, restraining myself primarily to complete my review. Excellent. 4.5

Mouthfeel: Faint gentle carbonation, mild bitterness provides balance to the pleasant not too sweet malt base. Drinks very light and easy, below the 4.2% ABV. Medium body, malt and brown sugar from start to finish. 4.25

Overall: So light and easy, like Sunday morning, a very outstanding example of the style. Glad I picked this out, will definitely seek out on future annual drops here, or if I get back to their brewery. Thanks for shipping this to us Forest & Main! 4.5

I had this on draft 3/26/25 @ the Hopleaf.

Black/brown appearance.

Nice tan head; decent lacing remained.

Brown sugar & biscuit notes in the nose.

Creamy medium mouthfeel.

Brown sugar & biscuit flavors; mild caramel notes on the finish.

Solid UK dark mild vibes. I'd have another...

What makes this beer so spectacular is how light and subtle everything is. Outside of a near perfect appearance, the aroma is almost non-existent with only a hint of bready malts. Taste is the same, slight breadiness, mild hop bitterness and a very easy session beer to down quickly. Overall this is a great pub beer. I bought a single cam from a store, would love to try this one on cask at the brewery sometime.

Aroma is toffee, toasted malts, big nuttiness and a hint of coffee. The flavor is toasted malts, toffee/mild caramel and a very nutty/mostly smooth finish.
