My visit corresponded with the Broncos-Chargers playoff game. We walked in and a nice younger customer asked if we were Broncos fans. I paused, gave her a wry smile and said, “Today we are.” My group of six “outsiders” were then welcomed.

Originally we were disappointed because there were only two Carbondale beers on-tap. A Mesquite Smoked Porter and an Irish Stout… however, there was about seven guest taps. All Colorado, all micro/craft including one cider.

The mesquite porter was not overly smoky and while I detected no mesquite it was quite tasty. The Irish Stout was spot-on. I was informed they had recently installed a new brewing system (bigger) and thus out of some of their beers. No worries as everything on-tap was tasty!

We order a handful of appetizers/snacks. Caramelized Brussels spouts were tasty, sausage plate and brewer’s board also good (re-order the sausage plate for our group). The hot nuts were good but a very small portion. I was impressed with the menu.

Our bartender/server was really nice and sweet but kind of ditzy… a lot ditzy. While she didn’t really mess anything up she seem to guess on the prices of liquor and merchandise.

The overall vibe was chill and enjoyable. A couple TVs, board games, plenty of space (for a small-ish joint). Fairly big bar as well (again, considering the size). I’d say it is worth the drive from Glenwood Springs and if you are heading to Aspen it is totally worth a stop!
