Worst beer iv ever had. Artificial chocolate taste and smell in a flavorless beer. Like putting swiss miss in your bud light. You know what that sounds better at least it'll taste like real chocolate. If you want chocolate malty beer go with Sam smith not shocktop.

Pours deep black with a very mild tan foam head. Aroma has chocolate notes and some wheat. Taste is overwhelmingly artificial chocolate, not even close to actual chocolate at all, tastes like hersheys syrup from the 90s. Medium body with low carbonation. I didn´t like this beer at all.

Dark brown. Tan head
Smell of fake sugar. Ovaltine chocolate milk. Taste is the same as the smell.
Feel is silky. Sweet. Smooth.

I will not buy again.

This is a beer that someone gave me a bottle of, I didn't think it'd be that great because I'm not a huge huge Shocktop fan. I kind of put off trying it for a few months and cracked open the bottle on a Friday night for shits and gigs. I was shocked and blown away that it wasn't a gross mediocre ingredient toss-in. It was a cohesive beer that had a lot to offer and I really surprisingly enjoyed it. Would drink it again.

12oz bottle. Poured out a dark, dark brown color with a small, tan head of foam. It smelled of Hershey's milk chocolate, wheat and caramel. Sweet chocolate and caramel with mild bitterness.

12 oz brown bottle

Shock Top Shockolate Wheat poured a chocolate brown color that produced a 1" of a tan puffy head that dissipated quickly. The nose is dominated by coca and a touch of vanilla. The taste is very similar to the nose with wheat added and a little stronger chocolate and vanilla than the nose. Mouth feel is light-medium , a touch too watery for me.

I applauded Anheuser-Busch for trying something new with their Shock Top brand, however, not sure if I would purchase again. Overall, a "decent" beer, nothing-more-nothing-less.

Picked this up in the bargain pile $9.99 12 pack Nice dark color, smell is ok hints of chocolate. A weird combination. I enjoy many porters and stouts. Its like this wants to be a porter or stout but the wheat base throws it all off. Over carbonated as well. Poor. wouldn't buy again. Now what to do with the other 11 in the pack...

Had to revisit this one as it had been a little while since I had it. I poured it into a snifter thinking that would concentrate the smell (which it did). I have to agree with another reviewer that the increased carbonation brings this down a bit. I think I'm actually burping more than I do when I drink Pepsi. The look and smell are pretty good on this. Another reviewer mentioned adding a bit more chocolate flavor, but if they would just lower the carbonation a bit, you could probably taste the chocolate a bit more. There isn't anything particularly wrong with it, but I feel like if they would tweak things the slightest bit, this would be one of the best flavored beers out there.

Poured from a 12oz bottle into a pint glass. Pours with a large (two fingers width), copper head that trickles down to a very thin line of a head within a minute. Is black in color perhaps an extremely dark brown. Has aromas of chocolate, spices (nutmeg and ginger), malts, and a hint of hops. None of the aromas are particularly strong (a personal disappointment). Initial taste is of a tasty combination of vanilla and chocolate immediately followed by spices. Hops are hardly noticiable. All flavors but chocolate quickly disappear from the palate resulting in a final taste of a watered down chocolate beer. A great idea for a beer and it has the right ingredients, but they should be more prevalent.

Shock Top Shockolate,

The look of it is a dark brown color. Half of a finger of head.

The smell of it: Very sweet, very smooth chocolate smell. I really did enjoy that smell.

The taste of it: Lots of carbonation, touch of chocolate with a sugary aftertaste. The over carbonation just killed the feeling.

So overall would I recommend it ? No, its a nice beer but not enough for me to recommend it to a friend or to someone else. That over carbonation inside the mouth just killed the experience you can enjoy with that beer.

Pours a dark brown color, very little head that fizzes away quickly and no lacing on the glass, kind of reminds me of a cola.

Smell is predominately cocoa with a sugary sweetness, not really finding much else to report.

Taste starts out and pretty much ends with sugary cocoa, artificial hints of vanilla, fizzy carbonation with a thinnish body.

I'm not really sure what the difference is being Shockolate Wheat and Chocolate Wheat, pretty sure they're the same beer with a different label since I'm having trouble finding much difference now that I've finished Shockolate. Same score between the two too, how 'bout that.

Not nearly as bad as most would think. Scoff if you must but here's the real skinny (from my perspective) on this. First off, the pour was average at least with a very nice color to both the beer and the head (opaque and black with brown tinges; head slightly off white) but the head does dissipate rather quickly leaving some, not a lot but some lacing. Nose was full of chocolate more than anything else. Not an overbearing fragrance but not any where near dismissible by any account. Taste followed nose exactly, only giving way to a hint of spice, dash of berries (muted at best but still there as a characteristic of the malt used, I would guess - think "Baltic Porter" backbone) and a touch of bitterness. More sweet than bitter and cloyingly so. Usually I would be far more rough on a beer of this depth for being watery thin but I fear that if it had much more body, the additional volume plus sweetness could have made it difficult to finish. My biggest complaint for this beer (and ultimately what rode the rating down) was the near terminal lack of balance. This was all over the road without actually going into the ditch.

Poured from the bottle into a wheat ale glass.

Deep dark brown walnut body, forming a very even and just barely three finger perfect tan head of even pinhead bubbles all throughout. Some clarity and chestnut edges for the body, but quite solid. Head falls at a normal clip with no lacing.. leaving a small thin puck left on the glass. Sort of looks like a regular porter.

A good simple milk choclate angle aroma. Hints of chocoalte wafer biscuit, moderate sweetness, and actually an interesting note of peanut butter as well. Pretty simple, not totally artificial smelling, not exactly the greatest chocolate aroma but very inviting and simple without a giant cheap candy store rush. The peanut action is a nice unexpected compliment. A true bit of vanilla does stick out. No compaints here, this is as advertised on the bouquet, not sure where this is going though, but there's no hint of beer character malt or yeast it seems.

Palate though just sort of goes for classic not take any risks, and for a weak pedestrian angle. Cola sweetnes pervades all over this in every shape or form imaginable. Seltzery but flat body cola like body, with a mild gaseous finish. Cola sweetness all over, where is the chocolate and detectable aromas of flavor on the palate in this cause they aren't even there. No depth to this at all in the body, watery, and lifeless. The palate washes with diet cola flavor and no wheat density whatsoever. Big aspartame like splenda fake sugar finish… holy molly that is a shocker and coming out of nowhere as well.

Overall, it's like a bad German Diesel. This doesn't even taste like beer and it's a huge disappointment in how it comes out from the nose and appearance. They made chocolate cola instead. Drinkable… but so is Diet Coke© apparently for some, so keep that in mind.

A- Looks like Guinness. Very deceiving!

S- You think someone handed you a Guinness until you smell it. It doesn't smell nice. Yes there is chocolate. But it doesn't smell like any chocolate I've ever smelled before. It's not bakers, nor is it really milk chocolate. It smells like some kind of unnaturally sweetened chocolate. After all, this beer is artificially sweetened. Anheuser-Busch's site that lists ingredients says this beer has sucrose and sucralose. That must be the fake-ness I'm sensing.

T- Very, very bad! It's like chocolate milk with half a glass of water in it. The flavors are gross. You'd think orange and chocolate with vanilla would taste good together, but it doesn't play well together. Just like with the Honey Bourbon Cask Wheat, it's got the same underlying gross, unnatural sweetness going on that's very cloying. There is no malt, and certainly no hops in the taste at all. The finish might be what makes this gross. The finish is of sour milk with a rush of grainy, sugary flavors.

F- It's light and very watery. It's thin, but I can see it being kind of refreshing. It's refreshing if the flavor doesn't make you spit the beer out.

Overall, this is only marginally better than the Shock Top Honey Bourbon Cask Wheat. I'd say drink something else, even a Blue Moon or this for god sakes! I'm feeling like a wasted money on pisss-pour Shock Top beer when I could have bought Rolling Rock or Miller High Life and actually had a more enjoyable time drinking those for less money.

Got this in a Shock Top 12 pack for $6.99!

Appearance : Deep, dark brown color, frothy head - khaki in color, webs of lacing left behind.

Aroma : roasted cocoa malts, cocoa powder, chocolate milk.

Flavor : almost nothing at first, and then a polite rush of cocoa powder and chocolate milk comes in. It ends with chocolate and more chocolate. It is very delicious.

Mouthfeel : light bodied, mildly carbonated, wet.

Overall : not incredibly impressive but it is yummy. I'd have it again and again. It is more flavorful and cola-like out of the bottle.

Got a bottle for free at work. This is pretty decent. It does exactly what it says on the tin (bottle?). It's got a lot of chocolate flavor with vanilla notes. I don't think I'll rush out and buy a sixer for home, but I did enjoy the one I had. It's not something I'd drink if I was thinking "I want a beer", because it doesn't have a lot of beery character to speak of. That, however, does not prevent Shockolate Wheat from being a sweet and tasty treat that is overall satisfying.

A: [4.50] Looks great in the glass. Dark chocolaty color with a nice full 1 finger khaki head. The head has nice tight bubbles and dissipates evenly. The bottle lists the ABV 4.3% and the born on Julian code equates to 12/17/14.

S: [3.75] The smell is chocolate - but a bit artificial.

T: [4.00] The taste is nice. Sweet up front with lots of syrupy chocolate. There is also some vanilla notes in there. There is a slight bit of malty breadiness in the middle but it is drowned out by the sweetness.

M: [3.25] The body is a little "grainy". It is not a velvety smooth feel on the tongue. The finish is in the dry directions.

O: [3.75] I think it is en vogue to hate on Shock-Top but this is a decent beer. At 4.3% it delivers a nice flavor and a different spin on a winter beer. I am partial to chocolate beers so that gives this one a boost. The nose is a little disappointing (the chocolate doesn't pop on the nose) but the taste has a lot of chocolate and some hints of vanilla too. I'd proudly recommend this to a friend.

Shock Top Shockolate Wheat - Anheuser-Busch. Poured from the bottle into a pint glass, this beer's head is two fingers thick and light brown, droopy lacing, and a rather dark brown, translucent body.

Smells like very rich grains and roasted malts. Not picking up any hop scent.

I taste milk chocolate, as if someone had made a mug of Swiss Miss, let it cool down, put in in the fridge, and it magically transformed into beer. This flavor is a very happy medium of depth and complexity. Again, nothing is being accounted for
with hops in this category.

Mouthfeel is smooth and clean. The chocolate taste does not stay in the mouth.

Overall, a 4.25 for Shock Top Shockolate Wheat - Anheuser-Busch. This is a great choice to switch it up with flavor that isn't usually brought to the table with much brews. I will most likely purchase this product again.

Shock Top Shockolate Wheat brewed by Anheuser-Busch, with an ABV of 4.30% This brew pours out a nice brown color with a nice off white head. The smell is rich with chocolate. There is also some grains and malts in this brew. The taste is rich with chocolate, malts, grains. Not to many hops in this brew. I like how this brew is different from most brews on the market today. The mouthfeel is rich with flavor, but it is smooth. Shock Top Shockolate Wheat has a nice balance to it, there is nothing overpowering in this brew. Overall I'm giving Shock Top Shockolate Wheat a 4.75 out 5. Anheuser-Busch did a nice job with this one. I would buy this brew again.

Appearance: Chocolate colored with a decent but quickly disappearing head and plenty of carbonation.

Smell: Cheap chocolate, vanilla, and wheat.

Taste: Cheap chocolate fudge with hints of vanilla and wheat.

Mouthfeel: Medium bodied with a hint of chocolate bitterness in the finish.

The Verdict: Not bad. I was expecting something lame and watered down like the Budweiser Project 12 attempts at beer making, but this actually has some flavor.

Sampled last night on 1/13/15 after bowling. Bottle chilled down to 36 degrees F in my beer cooler and poured in to a 'Shock Top' weissber vase glass.

Pours really close to a pitch black in color (deep reddish-brown) with a thin beige cap. Looks like a Porter actually. Some spotty lacing is seen when sipped that stuck to the glass. Sediment is seen in the bottom of the bottle after the pour. The aroma is of cocoa powder and vanilla. Pretty much is said for the taste with just a hint of wheat. Very smooth to drink and finishes the same way. Medium-bodied with slightly above average carbonation. Overall a good winter seasonal.
