only thing to change.. make it a tasting room.. where people can actually sit down and enjoy a pint.. currently one must stand or walk around the small retail shop with the drink of choice. make it comfortable more people will come in and stay a while. Great IPA and IIPA

Very small taproom just south of downtown Middlebury. Their beer is solid. They didn't have a lot on tap. Several kegs were kicked. The vibe was fun. The place was fun. A real local vibe where everyone knows everyone else.

was cool to cross the ferry and go south, we always go to burlington and the surrounding areas, so exploring a different area was a lot of fun, even if this direction is a little more sparse on breweries. really pretty drive down, this is just a little off the beaten path, cool space though, feels to me sort of like a homebrew club headquarters, lots of old beer memorabilia in there, no frills at all, a cobbled together patio, and a little sandwich shop next door that may or may not be affiliated. we parked way up on the hill overlooking the place, cool that they have some picnic tables way up there in the grass too. inside it was bustling and low key at the same time, everyone just chilling. a fridge with some cans to go, big windows in the front, soccer on tv, some equipment visible through a small window to the right of the long bar. i was impressed with the diversity of the tap list and the generosity of the flight. we really liked a few of them, including a belgian pale, a vienna lager, and an old school ipa, but they had a lot to choose from in here. some of the beers were a little amateur tasting, stressed on the ferment, but nothing was way off, just that some were much cleaner than others. we also loved the bottle conditioned saison we picked up to go, and were thankful for the attentive service, dude even offered to keep the bottle cold while we drank our beers. relaxing patio in the summer, thoughtful beers, mellow space, a good stop when in the area even if the beers are a little bit all over the map.

Small place off of Rte 7. Shared with a small sandwich shop. No flights available, individual tasters at $3 each. Very quiet. Small makeshift patio. Decent service, cans to go.

Visited on 2/5/2022. Located off the side of the road just outside Middlebury proper, it's tucked away in a small - tiny - strip mall. Visited in early afternoon and, likely due to stringent COVID restrictions in the area / region, the place was empty. Did not appear to be able to drink inside due to restrictions. Appeared to be cozy and cool vibe with decent selections. Grabbed a 4 pack and left.

Very small but very cozy and the staff are super personable. You can play some board games are jam on the guitar. Decent food next door. The supernova is their IPA and its amazing but you need to try Heart of Lothian!!!

Wow, what a fun place! It was hopping(no pun) when I arrived as a small bus load of 20ish guys had just arrived, but the server was still so friendly and patient. I sipped a kitten Death Star as I walked through the various rooms as one is allowed to do. Didn't hurt the experience that it was one of the best beers I've ever had

The best thing by far about this brewery is the service. Everyone serving tasters (and now pints) has been friendly and personable, enriching the experience. I don't ever have the heart to tell them that the beer is consistently disappointing. It used to be riddled with off-flavors, now those are gone but so is any flavor but water. Such a shame that this represents a brewing school in Vermont.

The shelves are filled with empty bottles and cans from other, much better, local brewers. It's kind of a shrine to VT brewing. Unfortunately, it just reminds me that I could be drinking something I'd enjoy a lot more.

Fair but not great beer

Update - fair beer. Beer list basically static.

I have enjoyed every single one of my half dozen visits to Drop In Brewery in Middlebury, VT. Every time I stop in, I'm greeted by warm and welcoming staff that somehow remembers the smallest details I shared on my precious visit. Their Heart of Lothian was the first brew to steal my heart, and since then their 'Dude, Are You Okay?' IPA has become my favorite. They demonstrate a true love for the art of craft brewing, and I look forward to haunting their entry on a regular basis. Worth the 40 mile drive, every time.

Small taproom sectioned off from brewhouse in a building that once might have been a country feed store. Small L-shaped bar opposite the entry seats about 8 with a few tables in the front of the sparely decorated room. 7 beers on tap, I especially like the Sunshine & Hoppiness. Service was friendly and knowledgeable. Great little pit stop on the way to Burlington.

Drop-Inn is a rustic establishment consisting of the small brewery and one-room tap room; there is a small bar and several tables. Look around and check out the beer paraphernalia from around the world. Their beers are wonderful; excellent IPAs along with a sweet porter and my favorite, Heart of Lothian, a rich and malty Scottish ale. Many of the beers can be taken away or purchased in cans. A worthy trip if in the area, or on the way to the nearby Otter Creek. You can now get food next door from the Grapevine Grill.

Lesser known VT brewery south of Middlebury village, but as a life long VT resident that has over 20 breweries within a 2 hour drive, it's one of my favorites. Simple tasting room with branded logo gear/glassware for sale and always knowledgeable/helpful staff. IMO a nice beer selection and not just on the the "more hops is better" bandwagon, one of my all time favorite beers was on tap there a few weeks back [a double Belgium].
