El Pedal was the first true craft-beer bar I stumbled upon in Madrid. It's a stone's throw away from my friend's house in Lavapies, and we were walking by when I saw all the beer goodies and had to go in and explore.
The place is small and doesn't have much of an ambience, basically a bar and some high-top tables- smaller than a studio apartment overall. There is a big wall behind the bar filled with beer bottles and a cooler by the window with more bottled choices.
Only five taps but some good stuff, I saw Tripel Karmeliet, Brewdog and two Dougall's (Spanish craft) during my visit. The bottle section is rather vast, including Flying Dog, Anchor, De Molen, Mikkeller...
We drank a bunch of brews and I introduced my friend to extreme beer- including De Molen Kopi Loewak, which was my favorite of the night.
Service is alright but not great, although the guys behind the joint love beer and it shows. There is a limited food menu we did not try, but you get a little tapa with your drinks.
Unfortunately, El Pedal is expensive. I paid over 44 euros for a bunch of craft brews. Some imports will run you upwards of 10 euros for a small bottle.
I will come back here, but I will favor Irreale (the other great craft-beer bar in Madrid) over El Pedal.

Cash only. BOO!
Two fridges of bottles including Yank bottles (Stone, Green Flash), German (Weihenstephaner), Spanish, and more. 10 taps - mainly Spanish with some internationals.
Prices are ~33% more than nearby places (e.g. La Buena Pinta), going from 4.50 for a pint of Pilsner Urquell to 8 euro a pint for Straffe Hendrik or Lervig Rya IPA.
3 sears at the bar. 4 tables.
Small joint with a nice atmosphere. I got a free tapa while at the bar. Cash only will prevent me from returning, but it's a decent beer spot and is open Sundays.
