Stillwell Beer Bar

 

This place is outstanding, with a rotating tap list and an exceptional bottle list. A must visit if in Halifax. They had a few different offering from Cantillon during my visit.

It's a medium sized taproom with a dipbar and oriented food concept. (didn't try food) Hip urban style, very popular place locally. Lots of taps, around 15-20 if I remember well, mostly from local brews but some other high quality stuff in there. Also tons of bottles of stuff from around the world and mostly Québec. (not interested because I'm from Québec but if not you'll be well served) Very good service, patient and calm with me even in rush hour. I can get the fad, not entirely my type of place, but still a must go for beer advocates. Best bar that doesn't brew in Halifax.

the pride of Atlantic Canada. a number of good taps and takeovers. always a cask thank you. not every server knows a thing about beer. small place i would not want to test on the weekend.

We visited this beer bar while on vacation in NS. Has a pretty trendy vibe to it. Real cool chalkboard with all the draft selections on it. Mostly local beers. Had a great selection of Canadian beers. This was by far the best bar beer we found in Canada. Besides having a great local draft list, they had plenty of other bottle selections that were awesome. Staff was nice and knowledgeable as well. If in Halifax, I would certainly stop by

The best beer bar in Atlantic Canada. They have a small but inventive (and always delicious) food menu that focuses on the local. Their beer list has many of the best local options with the best of the rest of Atlantic (and Quebec) thrown in. If you stop at one place in Halifax this should be it.

 

 

 

 

 

Interesting industrial space in downtown Halifax. Metal chairs concrete floor, huge chalkboard wall/taps. 12 taps all atlantic craft with 3 casks and a bunch of bottles. Early supper for me started off with a white ipa and Tokyo fries. Both were great as well as the rueben I had afterwards. Great selection good food somewhat reasonably priced, I’d recommend it, even if I got tired of running back to the bar every time my glass got empty.

This is THE place to go in Halifax. Best tap list in the city by a long shot, and that is just the start. Amazing atmosphere, excellent food and great service. Most of the beer bars in the city are dark and pub-like, but Stillwell has that upscale gastropub atmosphere that is spot on for what they are trying to do.

 

Fantastic bar. Can be a little loud at times due to the small size and reflective surfaces, but that is outweighed by the great selection and service. 12 taps, and 3 cask pumps, in constant rotation ensure that there is always something there to try. Pretty great bottle list too, and a snack list that is unreal (and also rotating!)

typically a 12oz drinker and compared to the local prices they seem on par, but the rotation of the taps and menu set them off from 99% of the other places in the city.

Food is wonderful unique bar snacks for one or to share.

Minimalistic/Industrial look allows for the Beer to be the reason to come back over and over again.

It can be a little loud but that will be improved upon.

The staff is friendly and knowledgeable and will help to steer you in the right direction.

This is the place that this city didn't know it needed until it opened. Thankfully it did.
