Nice little brewery close to downtown Lewisville. Seems like Cobra often gets overlooked around the DFW beer scene although I'm not sure why - I tend to like almost everything they put out. They had 9 beers on tap including three years worth of "Spring Kleaning" releases, a "Dawn of the Dank" on nitro, a couple variations of their "Ho Lee Chit IPA", and no pandering-to-the-masses blonde ales, etc. Always a good thing when breweries have something special for those who make the pilgrimage to the source! Bar staff and crowd were friendly and helpful, dogs are welcomed, and they do flights for those of us who like to get a sampling of the entire repertoire!

Great Brewery with awesome people running it. Taproom on Fridays and live music and food on Saturdays.

Cobra Brewing Company recently opened right next to old downtown Lewisville. Located in a converted industrial/warehouse complex, the brewery does an open house on Saturdays, which is where I got to sample the beers and check out the brewery. The equipment and serving bar are inside, along with a couple of pool tables and some picnic benches. Outside are a handful of large, industrial spools turned sideways into poor-man's standing tables. There was also a cover band playing outside. For $15 each, my wife and I got 4 tickets and souvenir pint glass. Each ticket was good for a full, 16 oz pour. Cobra was pouring 4 beers when we went:
-Blonde Bomber Hop Series II
-Best Mistake Stout
-Sumthin Strawberry
-Hoppy Dazed
We tried all 4 and were underwhelmed in total. Unfortunately, all the beers had potential, they were just green. All were worty and needed more time before they were served. The Blonde was the most undrinkable (of course) and the stout the most drinkable, but as is the case in all beer brewing, higher gravity hides more flaws.
This brewery definitely has potential--you could taste that beneath the wortiness. I look forward to seeing what they do when the brewing cycle is long enough to allow for a fully-finished product.
