I was in Pittsburgh for the Penguins – Blackhawks game and one of my co-workers chose this spot for the pregame meeting and dinner. I’m glad he did!
As you walk in there is a large space to your left with lots of tables. The bar is in the center of the front room and that is we initially parked ourselves. There is also dinning space on the other side of the bar and then a few more private rooms further back.
The service at the bar was professional and he was free with samples. Our table service was solid with good menu and beer knowledge. The food came out slow, but the place was slammed so I’m not going to ding them for that.
Food is very tasty, with a nice mix of options. They aim for gastropub and in my opinion, they get almost everything right. We had nice appetizers and good entrees.
They really seem to focus their draft selections on local beers. I enjoy having the opportunity to try stuff I can’t get in Chicago. Highlights for me included pints from Helltown, Sly Fox & Rivertowne. I didn’t have any of the bottled choices but their bottle list seems well thought out and balanced.
This was a great stop and for me compares very favorably to Sharp Edge Bistro which is another of my favorite downtown stops. Best part of the night, Hawks won in a shootout
