Fernson Brewing Company

Finally managed to stop by the Fernson brewery taproom, having previously stopped at their 8th St taproom in the Sioux Falls beer district. I had hoped to find a stout on tap, but settled for a Wagonplane smoked porter, which was outstanding. I also picked up a crowler of their experimental Kölsch, and a bomber of a wine barrel aged stout. I talked to the owners, and found that we have a number of common friends. I was one of three customers late afternoon, at opening. Overall decent, but not outstanding - perhaps due to the time of day and lack of crowd.

 

 

 

Love the old building & the bonus when trains pass!

 

I really enjoyed my outing to this nearly year old brewery. The staff was passionate about the beer they were offering and the atmosphere matches the beer quality. I met the taproom manager Rob and he kept me laughing during my visit. Go check it out if you haven't been. Check the hours before you make the drive, or call ahead and they might be able to fill a growler during off-hours. Sioux Falls is lucky to have these guys doing their thing!
