At Modist, we push past traditional brewing by embracing creativity and unconstrained experimentation.
This starts with the approach to recipe development taken by our Head Brewer, Keigan. Contrary to starting with a style guideline in mind, then moving forward – he starts with a flavor and experience in mind, then works backward. And since we’ve decided to not be bound by style guidelines, he’s free to use whatever ingredients in any amount with whatever technique he wants to create a new beer experience.
To enable this philosophy and to enhance our creativity, we created a custom built brewhouse that allows us to make the beers we want to make. It’s centered around the region’s first mash filter. This piece of equipment allows us to use any grain in any percentage – and do so while using a fraction of the water and energy of a traditional brewery.

Nice large room, upscale, industrial, dj spinnin, outdoor space, near twins stadium…quality up to date brew and cans to go
Tougher parking in this area, give yourself some extra time.
Friendly lady behind the counter
High quality NEIPA and NE pale ale all flowing freely from multiple taps and lots of canned to go choices to be made.
Cool spot that is surely well worth a visit, judging from the larger afternoon crowd present when I visited.
Great date spot…not so much a group of guys kinda locale

Very cool spot with a great bar, decent sized taproom, outdoor seating, and an events space in the back! The vibe was great, the music playing was great (to me lol), the servers were friendly, knowledgeable, and prompt! Thank you Beeradvocate for putting this place on my radar with a selection for the pandemic era Extreme Beerfest and the beer did not disappoint. Great selection of beers from lagers to a killer stout all of the highest quality. While they don't have food, they encourage takeout/delivery from places in the area including other breweries which speaks to their collaborative nature. Definitely stop in if you're in town!

Picked up a bundle of beers, and decided I should return to sit for a bit before a Lynx game. A spare space, with very loud music, that got progressively more busy and active over the hour we were there. The brews on tap were solid, and I liked the variety of styles. The service was relaxed but attentive. Slightly lower volume, particularly given the techno/metal playlist, would have made it easier to chat with my wife, but that'd be my main knock. Probably will pick up brews here again, but might not choose the spot for a conversation.

Another downtown, spitting distance from the stadium location. Wide open, but quiet on a Tuesday evening. Selection focused on hazies and lagers. Snack menu only. Service excellent on a quiet night. No flights or tasters.

This is the place of choice after a Twins baseball game, due to proximity. New, with a bare bones decor and good amount of patio space. The beers are pretty good. The Supra Deluxe lager was a favored beer of the four that were tried.

Nothing exceptional. - a big, noisy and somewhat chilly warehouse space. No food but you can order flatbreads from the restaurant across the street and they will run it over to your table.

Modist is in a neat up and coming area of Minneapolis near Target Field where the Twins play. There was outdoor seat where you culd hear the crowd cheering from the stadium. The quality of the beer was good. The service was friendly. The selection offered 13 beers on tap.

Hard to feel appreciated at this brewery, asked for a sample taste, bartender says “we do not give out samples as there is a $4 charge“. Go to Lakes and Legends brewery or Fulton nearby, no charge for samples! It’s ridiculous that a brewery would charge for a taste.

One of my favorite Minneapolis taprooms. Great hazy ipas. Occasionally they have some nice stouts on. Good location and vibe. Staff is nice. Definitely worth a stop if you are visiting.

A good sized taproom that's a couple blocks from Fulton and Target Field. The space is very open with long table and a small, reservable room. 10-12 beers on tap. Offering 10 and 16 ounce pours for most beers.

I've been to Modist on the order of a dozen times now since they opened. Their first offerings were decent, but I didn't understand the hype. The space is quite open with a nice, warm atmosphere. Musical selection varies. Today, it's jazzy older stuff. The clientele all seem to be enjoying it. There are several dogs, children and families, and a lot of plaid - plenty of hipsters and younger folks.
The beer has consistently gotten better since the brewery opened. Lord Humungus (2017) is a stellar stout offering. Dilly Dilly gave the brewery a brief national spotlight, and happened to be very decent. Their current new offering, a mango milkshake IPA, is lovely and accurate to style - almost pulpy, it's so thick, and the mango and vanilla are wonderful.
Great spot. Parking isn't great during the week, but it's decent on weekends. The beer makes a visit well worth the parking hassle.
