my first time through helena, i was stoked to be able to have some time to poke around a few of the breweries, this was my first stop. its on this little old downtown street, foot traffic only, neat little block or two here, seems very old but nicely maintained or restored, and the brewery space is really cool. a huge even kind of grand place, long from front to back and very spacious, also feels old but nice, the brew house is in the far back and looks almost tiny in here, but they have some capacity, and maybe ten beers flowing on tap. high top tables around, the smell of beer being brewed, and relaxed energy. the beer list covers the basics and had a few more ambitious beers too. i had time for a tasty rye ale and an overly sweet coffee porter, both decent, neither amazing, but serviceable for sure, fun just to be here and try some new stuff in a new town, not trying to be overly critical. the service was pleasant and i had a good time posting up and having a few while knocking out some computer work. the beer doesnt seem likely to set the world on fire, but this feels like old west montana, great vibe, and a fun place to have a couple!

I visited Ten Mile Creek with a buddy last night; it's a cool (and huge) place along the pedestrian-only stretch of Last Chance Gulch in the old town area. They had 7 beers on tap plus a guest kombucha (if that's your thing), although the range of styles wasn't much. I had the oatmeal stout and the saison; both were totally serviceable if not outstanding. It seems like a popular place, and if you're hitting Helena breweries it's super close to Blackfoot River, so you can try both!

Ten Mile Creek is a great addition to the Helena brewery scene. Great space downtown on the walking mall with kind of an industrial western vibe going. Music occasionally and local artwork always hanging. Friendly, prompt service and always a good selection of their brews. Kid friendly. No food, but that's typical at Montana tap rooms and there are plenty of options nearby. Look for Betelgeuse and Wood Knocker IPAs.
