The place is bright and friendly and makes good beer. Felt very laid back and would be a great place to hang out with friends. The beers I tried were very good and they had a wide selection. Their double IPA was the best I've had in Wilmington. Very citrusy, but nicely balanced. Will definitely be back.

I have visited Waterline a few times now when I can pull myself from my other favorite craft beer places and am happy to report this is now one of a few, really solid places to get a proper beer advocate kind of place experience. I tried all of the beers they had on tap at the time, but that can vary depending on what is ready, what is still fermenting, etc. Every one was great and their versions of things I don't usually gravitate toward, like a Red Ale that has some nice hop for example would make it one of my favorite breweries in town, although I am having trouble keeping up with and trying them these days. The vibe is a little on the clinical/industrial side (not a bad thing considering the brewery "works" are a few steps away from the bar) mixed with a cool, historical structure with a good outdoor spot and uniquely located in the shadow of the Cape Fear Memorial Bridge near the river. I was most recently in when on an early afternoon so I had a chance to talk to the owner and also met the brewer. The service is great overall but I have not been on a busy weekend night. They have bands play some and food trucks sometimes too, which makes it just a better place to spend some time. In terms of beer, I recommend getting some samples of whatever is on tap, you will not be disappointed.
