we had a great time here, a unique and humble little spot, right in this cute little downtown, a sleepy sort of community it seems, this is a really fun small town brewery. they have a great outside space, looks like its an old house, a big front porch sort of area up off the street and then on the side road the whole sidewalk area is seating as well, which is where we posted up. its small inside with the bar taking up a good amount of the space, a couple of rooms with tables, neat rustic old farmy vibe to it, and then the tanks in the back behind it, which you can see from outside. they had only a small list of their own beers when we were in, some solid guest taps too, and a rather compelling little food menu. we had three beers all of which were solid, a barrel aged belgian strong ale, a hoppy pils, and a robust milk stout, good quality on all three of them. we had friendly service that was in no hurry, totally fine, we were chilling. the food was tasty, had a few sharing snacks in taco form and all was fresh and well prepared. i like the space a lot, like the vibe, definitely wish they had more of their own beer on, thats what we came here for, but they seem to have a cool thing going and this little town is lucky to have them. a cool spot to stop for a beer, especially in summer when you can enjoy outside!

Excellent fresh and creative food and great beer. Super nice people too. A couple of additional outside beer taps to round out the options would be cool.

I had a good vibe in this brewpub, very clean, nice feel to the wood along the bar. Tables and seats arranged nicely, spaced appropriately. Quality seemed pretty good, I could tell Ian takes pride in fashioning his own beers and food. Though, I didn't think the DIPA or the red ale I had were knockouts, they were still good takes for their styles. Service, well, our server told us the kitchen staff was having problems with the oven. At least she communicated that with us and didn't leave us wondering what happened to the food. Which turned out to be the most impressive part of the brewpub. That 'healthnut' pizza was absolutely phenomenal! If anything out of this whole experience, when someone tells you back in the day : "Patience is a virtue." You better believe it with this place!

Great selection of hyperlocal beers, beer cocktails, and pizza in a light-filled taproom in Vergennes, Vermont. Amazing find. The Downingsville Double IPA and Korean BBQ pizza is out of this world. They source their ingredients from Homestead Hops in Starksboro and Peterson Quality Malt in Monkton.

Small intimate little brewery and restaurant in a small town atmosphere with indoor and outdoor porch seating. Pizza is good as are those Vermont beers!

Located above The Antidote (See My Review), this rustic little gem serves excellent pizza to go with their superb beers, which are also served downstairs. A homey family atmosphere, friendly service and knowledgeable staff makes Hired Hand a great place for lunch - while you await the opening of Antidote. There beers are now brewed on-site in an addition that was once the Boys & Girls Club. Thanks kids!
