Visited on a Wednesday at dinner time. Light crowd. Sat outside.
V - Definitely an urban vibe. Right in the street. More street pizza place than urban brewery. Clean open friendly. I liked sitting at the outside picnic tables. Good electric selection of music. A nice place to hangout. 3.75
Q - The Paisley Print west coast IPA was very nice.
Ser - Friendly. Maybe not attentative enough.
Sel - A weave selection. Heavy in hoppy beers with a variety of lagers and a sour. Standard fare for the urban hipster.
Food - nothing stuck my fancy but this is primary a pizza joint.

nice place - modern industrial decor, multi sided bar, with TV's showing games. you can see the brewhouse through the back wall. and large outdoor area with heaters. decent variety on the draft list, but a little heavy on IPAs. they offer half pours which was nice to try more beers on a first visit and still drive home. I had the brisket sandwhich and fries which was quite good. bartender was quick to serve the next beer.

Urban Village Brewing Company is located at 1001 N. 2nd. St. in Northern Liberties, on the site of what was once the Schmidt's Brewing Company (now the Piazza at Schmidt's - if they've even kept the Schmidt's name), and possibly, I'm not exactly sure about the location, in the space that used to be "Swift Half" and then "Gunners Run".
It's a polished looking space done in the semi-retro-industrial style that utilizes wood and metal and black and grey colors, and there's a lot of wood: wood floors (well, faux wood), wooden chairs, wooden tables, and even a wooden ceiling above the bar. It's nicely done though, and it works, and it's not too dark as there are windows all along the street that allow for people watching.
The brewery is visible along the back, and just before that to the right by the open kitchen there's an alley of about 8 individual toilette rooms. You can see the wood fired pizza ovens in the kitchen, and the sound of the staff and the cooking helps to add even more comfort to the space. But as if that wasn't enough - there's also outdoor seating for when the weather is nice! All in all, it's really well done.
The food is quite good, and the pizzas are excellent. It's much better than you'll find at a chain like Applebee's. Some examples from the menu include: Smoked Wings ($10), Ricotta Gnocchi ($12), Caesar Salad ($10), 3 different choices of Mussels ($14), 9 different Pizzas ($10-15), Fish & Chips ($12), and a Brisket Sandwich ($12).
The beer is good as well, and there are 12 taps plus a cask offering via hand-pump. The offerings are fairly diverse with a lighter blonde ale, wheat beers, pale ales and IPAs, Belgian-style ales, and stouts and porters. They offer multiple sizes of glasses, and they do growler and crowler fills as well. For those in your party that might not be into beer they also offer PA wine and spirits.
