Hövels Hausbrauerei

A very nice place to go and enjoy their Hövels bier, it's really good. The food is also good and traditional. when the weather is good you can sit outside and enjoy your beer and food. They also make their own Kräutersnaps which is delicious. A very good place if you are in Dortmund

The restaurant has a cellar like atmosphere with low arches separating seating sections combined with high ceilings. I noticed a screen and projector for movies inside as well as the shiniest copper kettles I've ever seen in a side room. Even during the afternoon it was dark inside, giving a great ambience that went well with the mixture of wooden chairs and tables. The establishment seemed to take pride in it's appearance and in it's beer as it had numerous gift sets for sail and on display. The service was good, and the waiter spoke many languages, also provided an English and French menu for translation. He attended us well with prompt and considerate service. I imagine this i the case even when the place is full-up. The food selection was mostly meat dishes, but they also offered a variety of salads and a sunday brunch. Not the best food in the world, but it hit the spot and went very well with their beer. Their beer selection was limited to their house-brewed Bitterbier and a widely available hefeweizen. Because of the quality of their house brew, no other selection is really necessary. A great place to stop if in Dortmund, and a reason to stop in the city if passing through.
