A few glasses of this were enjoyed during Oktoberfest '07 by UncleAl, my daughter Caitlin and myself. A Maß (litre) ran 6.40EU.
Poured a medium copper hue, with a slight bit of cloudiness. Head was tan, creamy and rocky, with very good stick in the glass. A very attractive brew. Nose was lightly malty, with a touch of toffee, though no hoppage evident here. This Festbier had a medium body, and provided a fairly smooth passage over the tongue.
Nice flavor, real nice. Malty, with toffee and caramel notes. Lightly sweet, with a very smooth and creamy feel to it. Has a minimal suggestion of florality, though not as a detriment to the overall taste. Very easily quaffable. Not a current-day Märzen, but rather one Paulaner thinks might have been made in 1810 if they could have... My drinking compatriots also enjoyed the quaff.
Prosit!!
