I came up with the name for the beer - I hope Chad doesn't mind. From the Facebook page:

"Thursday plans? Today we are tapping Sentience aged in a single Leopold Bros American Small Batch Whiskey barrel. Our Silver medal GABF beer..that kept aging for an extra 4 months. Only one barrel so get it quick!"

Uh...don't know about you guys, but I'm going to effing drink this.

Said they'll also be pouring it at Strong Ale Fest this weekend. And all is right in the world again.

Does anyone know if this is the same barrel as they did for the tap/bottled bourbon sentience?

I believe its the same bourbon barrel treatment, just four months longer in the barrel

Same base Sentience but this barrel was a Leopolds Maryland Rye whereas the bottled version was Heaven Hill.

Kyle, Danny seemed to say that this was moved from the original Heaven Hill batch barrels into Leopold Bros. Are you saying it was in Leopold all along?

In any event, I had it last night. It is an incredibly different beer. Completely different character, and far more bourbon. I still loved it, but it didn't have the over-the-top old world funk of the first round of Sentience on draft that totally blew me away and singlehandedly caused me to buy a reserve membership. Everyone that's a fan of the original has to try this.

Very excited for bottles of Origins.

Danny may know better than Travis. Travis was under the impression that it had only been in that Leopolds barrel. This went down before my time all I know is that it is mmm mmm good. Only a sixtel went to strong ale so get it early in the sessions!
