Me and my brother did this while tasting 5 different IPA's the other weekend. It truthfully works well. Without it I think we have a natural tenancy to expect the second beer to taste like the first and be thrown off by the differences. Nothing will make you appreciate a good beer like a shitty one.

Pour them both down the drain.

(Let's see how smart solomon's little test really is)

Open both and mix. You can't go wrong that way, right?

This would involve having to purchase said dishwater, and supporting them.

Well, you could send one of them to the newly ex-pope. Now that he doesn't have all those pope-y things to do, he might like to relax with a nice brew. Maybe he'd even put in a good word with the big guy (or girl) upstairs for ya.

$11.99 for a 30 rack, you can't go wrong. If you don't want to support the evil empire than get PBR, Oldstyle, Genne light, or any other cheap american adjunt lager, I just choose the one that is closest to water for this particular application.

Holy Hell, this is probably the Best Idea Ever. I wish VT had Yuengling. I'm pretty sure Yuengling would accomplish the same cleansed palate, and it would support an independent brewer...

Here's what happened, and I think it worked well:
Got home from work, drank the Hop Stoopid earlier in the evening. It was cold and a perfect after-work warm-up-for-the-evening beer.
Then I took a nap, woke up, and had the Double Crooked Tree later in the evening - about two hours later.

It was good because Hop Stoopid really is a hop-lovers beer. Very hoppy, just a little sweet (or maybe that's just the citrus). It's very drinkable and delicious.
The Double Crooked Tree was not as hoppy, but it's a serious beer. It's a sipper and one that you savor. It's much more complex with a malty balance and more body. Hop Stoopid is the appetizer and Double Crooked Tree is the meal. Boom.

Popcorn with no butter or salt, unsalted breadsticks, and/or unsalted peanuts, with copious amounts of water works wonders. Last night it was unsalted peanuts and water in between Amazeballs, Sucks, Best By, And S&S 6. Still had a clean palate to taste every bit of flavor in the S&S.
