I had been looking forward to trying the Cigar City Jai Alai when I was in Florida a few weeks ago. The most citrusy IPA I'd ever had by far. Amazingly refreshing. Blew my socks off.

Locally, some of the Greenbush beers would probably fit in this category..namely Brother Benjamin, or Anger.

Legend Brewing Co. is really doing it right in Richmond. Their Brown Ale is jet a classic go-to. And their Maibock spring seasonal and new year round Hopfest APA are great!

I also think Southern Tier just doesn't get enough love. The IPA and the 2XIPA are so incredibly balanced. Not a crazy hop bomb, but smooth and drinkable as anything. Underrated.

Good point, though almost 2K ratings and a 95, I don't think BeerAdvocate would think it's a sleeper. Maybe I'm wrong.

Cathedral Square BA Holy Moly and non BA Holy Moly. Great beer, tremendously fair price.

I also had the Southern Tier IPA when I was in Florida. Reminded me of the Saint Arnold Elissa. Nothing crazy going on, just refreshing, straight-forward, balanced hoppy goodness. I would agree, like the Elissa, underrated.

Clown Shoes recently hit here in SoCal. I say Unidragon sitting on the shelf last weekend but was reluctant to pull the trigger due to the price. Perhaps I should have done that differently

I never realized that it had that many ratings either. Again, I still see it as a bit overlooked as far as other IPA's (especially California) go. Either way, more for me. Yeahhhhh buddy!

I couldn't agree more. For a 12% beer it is incredibly smooth and it wasn't boozy at all.

Funny you should mention that, because I almost said "Stony Brook Red". I almost took a pass on it, but my local store had it for $5.99, and it was solid, so I bought a bunch more (now they are more like $9.99). But I have never been able to pull the trigger on Cinder Block. Based on your comment, I just might.

Let me be clear on this point: If you find Stony Brook Red for $5.99, buy every bottle. It has serious potential, like a too-young Dissident. I haven't always given Sam Adams the credit they deserve, but this beer gives me a reason to reconsider.
