Him no way. He is Catholic, and on Lent though. Really living up to the "no drinking". Fuck that noise.

I was stationed right behind that group and was impressed the bottle sharing they were aggressively trying to consume at 3am before an event with a nice tap list.

Half of them didn't make it past grabbing bottles

Yeah - he is nuts. Total binge drinking maniac. He hadn't drank since the start of that Lent - whenever that was - then goes to CFH release? Nuts. My coworkers rule. I was getting texts as that mountain was built. What all were they drinking?

I wasn't exactly sure if the people directly next to us were with his group or just merged in with bottle sharing, but there were a lot of bottles being tossed around. One of them was nice enough to pour me some cherry Adam from the wood.

Good. Those guys were right behind me in line. They didn't seem like people that would cheat the system. I had just woken up from a quick nap when they were stacking everything on your buddy. Pretty funny stuff.

Does anyone know which vintage of Silva Stout was being poured at Churchill's last weekend? Of everything I tasted, this was by far the biggest let down. Not sure if it's the first batch and has really fallen off, or if the new batch just isn't that impressive. I have really enjoyed the first batch as recently as 6 months ago. Seeing this beer pop up around town now, I am on the fence about buying any without knowing what I tasted.

Silva Stout batch 2, the most recent release.

Thx! That's a shame, looks like there is no need to run out and buy any.

The latest batch is inferior to the original by many orders of magnitude. It's a little watery and lacks the robust chocolate malty bourbon goodness of the original. I think much of the problem is with the base beer (double stout), which for some reason has really fallen off in quality over the last few years. Double stout used to hit you with all sorts of nice flavors back in the day but now it tastes like a rather thin, unremarkable imperial stout. Kinda sad since it used to be the best $5 stout around, and appears to have contributed to the fall of the once world class silva stout.

In no fewer than 100 words, you just touched all my feels. This is the winning essay. Sorry I have no brewery memberships to hand out.

I agree it can be kind of sad. I think this video was taken during a down part of the line waiting. Tickets were already handed out and the sun was beating down. Prior to this there were a few card games going, some bottle sharing, playing cornhole, etc. It was a very fun wait in line.

Hey, I saw that empty Cascade whale in the parking lot that night. Nice of him to leave behind a souvenir.
