I just bought 4 weihenstephan hefeweissbier bottles, and their "best before date" is 18.12.13, is this considered to be very fresh? They were stored in the fridge when I bought them.

I imagine the best before date is 12 months after bottling, so yea that's reasonably fresh. I regularly grab some weissbier when I see it's been bottled within the past 3 months or so.

I don't know about 'very' fresh, but they certainly are fresh enough (best-before is 9 months away)- drink up, man!

If it's fully carbed, it's beyond it's prime. They drink it straight out of the fermenter in Germany.

I prefer old hefes. Like when they lose the banana flavors.

Just make sure to wear some sunglasses when you drink them. Anything less would be sacrilege

For me to buy a case it needs to be bottled (or canned) in the last 60 days.

Six pack or less I'll go up to 90-120.
